The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint at some bad news for Melissa Ordway fans. Despite her character’s (Abby Newman-Abbott) wedding being the centerpiece of the soap’s milestone 13,0000-episode special that took place on Wednesday, November 13, the actress has been taken off contract on the show and has been set to recurring status.
The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers – Melissa Ordway Confirms Soapy Status On Social Media
Melissa Ordway hopped on Instagram the very same day of the Y&R’s landmark 13,000th show and did an “Ask Me Anything” on her Stories. She shared the most popular questions asked, which centered around why she decided to cut off her hair recently.
Ordway wrote in response, “Honest answer. Honestly, it’s been an interesting couple of months. The show decided to take me off contract, so I decided to change my look, up a bit for auditions.
She adds, “Definitely not something I wanted but I love and respect my YR family and appreciate any time they ask me back.”
Y&R Spoilers – What Happens To Abby Newman-Abbott-Hamilton-Winters Now?
Ordway has been filming and posting from the Y&R set since the daytime drama changed her contract status.
In fact, many actors on the Y&R, and other soaps, work recurring status and are seen quite regularly on shows, with Conner Floyd (Chance Chancellor) a prime example as he was recently taken off contract, but still playing a pivotal role within Y&R storylines.
Melissa Ordway entered the role of Abby Newman-Abbott in 2013, taking over from Emme Rylan. As the daughter of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Abby has been a key player in Genoa City, which makes the move of taking her off contract so surprising.
In addition, she’s currently one-half of the hottest super couples in GC, marrying Devon Hamilton-Winters during the soap’s big 13,000th show.
