The Young and the Restless News: Doug Davidson Shares Interesting Facts About His Y&R Journey

In an interview with Dishing With Digest, Doug Davidson shared some interesting facts about his life before joining “The Young and the Restless.” He revealed that he was not exposed to people in showbiz. It was his sister who started the showbiz thing as she loved Disney. She went into modeling and had him take an acting class as an elective in high school.
Davidson said he loved movies growing up. He had a successful high school theatrical run. He quit college sophomore and got into a pro acting class. He met Rick Springfield, around 1974-1975 and been best friends ever since. He joined “The Young and the Restless” in 1978.
Before Young & Restless, Davidson Was A Model
Between 1974 and 1978, before joining the soap, he did mostly modeling stuff. He started modeling when he was a senior in high school. He did a vogue layout in 1973, the May issue to be more specific. He said he posted some photos of it on his Instagram account and it has created quite a stir.
He also drove a taxi and was in a taekwondo class. It was a taekwondo class during the day because he was driving a taxi all night. So in the class were two people, a restaurant manager and Mark Lambert who was the husband of Victoria Mallory, who played Leslie Brookes at that time. The restaurant manager convinced him to quit his taxi cab driving gig. So he waited tables and did bartending, which was a lot easier and paid better. He then became fast friends with Mark.

Davidson Gets Invitation To Audition on Y&R
He revealed that he was invited to audition for “The Young and the Restless” after he went to pick up Victoria from work. He was discovered by then Executive producer John Conboy in the parking lot. When he read for a role, he didn’t expect to land the job because he knew it was not his best work. He then got a call asking him to come in for a wardrobe consultation. He was surprised when he found out that he got in.
His first year in “The Young and the Restless” was spotty. It was in 1980 when everything started rolling. He was very nervous at first and admitted that he had his own set of mishaps.
