‘The Young and the Restless’ Poll: With Mark Grossman Recast Confirmed – Will Adam Newman’s Face-shift Be Mentioned?

Adam (as now played by Mark Grossman) will be coming back to Genoa City on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But will Y&R address the face-shift from Justin Hartley to Mark Grossman?

Devoted viewers recall that Michael Muhney (Adam) and Billy Miller’s (Billy) farewell scene in January 2014, led two different ways. Billy escaped and transformed into David Tom.

Adam was shown crawling out of the fabled black SUV and away from the crash. Justin Hartley debuted in the fall of 2014 as the recast Adam. He, like Muhney, then delivered a well-received run as Victor Junior before his Adam apparently died in September 2016.

Y&R last chose to bring Adam back via radical facial surgery. Of course, Adam also had a new body and voice that fell into the suspension of disbelief category, where all escapist entertainment slots.

Will backstage decision-makers develop another surgery storyline, where Adam’s latest appearance change is highlighted, meaning that his face was burned so badly that he again needed restorative work?

As has been true in many past recast instances, a voice-over announcement could be made, “The role of Adam Newman is now being played by Mark Grossman.”, and that would be that. But a lack of explanation would likely require Y&R to claim that Adam escaped the cabin explosion.

No mortal could have lived through Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) diabolical plan to eliminate her enemy. So, a story could be developed that allowed him to escape, or for someone to have pulled the seemingly unconscious man out of the cabin before it blew up.

Adam either was in the blast, or he wasn’t. In either case, Y&R can directly address the recast that has allowed Grossman to take over for Hartley. This plot decision impacts the comeback storyline, which is why it’s important.

Fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ rightfully express their opinions on a regular basis. So, will Y&R address the face-shift from Hartley to Grossman? Please vote in our poll below!

    Maybe

So Michael Muhney is 43 & Justin Hartley is 42, but this guy, Mark Grossman, is only 32! He’s a DECADE YOUNGER! That’s a much bigger issue than his face… Does he look old enough to have once been married to SHARON or CHELSEA??? Or to have run Newman Enterprises or Jabot? Not at all! He’s aged more for Mariah or Summer (or Abby, if he wasn’t her 1/2 brother!) So just based on age alone, they did the crappiest job ever in this recast!!! Not believable at all!

I don’t like Mark’s face doesn’t look nothing like Justin’s. I wish he could come back. I’m not gonna like the show anymore. Sorry Mark but that’s how I feel.

So you’ll spot watching a show you love over a recast you don’t like? LMAO. Bye!

I had hope that we where finish with Adam ( in case you can not tell I did not like Adam) but anything can happen on soap

I agree about the new actor’s age. He’s too young to play Adam. Needs a man in his 40s to have the storyline make any sense. Michael Muhney would be my only choice. If the new people in charge at Y&R would get their heads out of their ass, they wouldn’t be losing so many viewers. Our patience is wearing thin. Fix this while there is still a chance…

The face change is less concerning than the age change. Ten years is a big difference when referring to a character who has the back story that Adam has. His peers are now Abby, Kyle, Mariah, Devon, etc. The decision is confusing to me. Plus, I’m Team MM-let’s be honest!

No one can replace Justin Hartley! I’m not excited at all

What difference does the age of an actor make? They’re acting! People come back from the dead, children are aged overnight, so what if an actor plays and older character? Let’s see what he can do in the part.

Let’s just do the voice over and move on . To much time spent rehashing the past . I’m still exhausted over the coverup crew . Let’s not drag this out to . Adams back let the new drama begin .

Agree, this guy is too young. Justin was okay as Adam but in my opinion MM will always be the best.
