Kudos to Y&R’s writing staff for developing a storyline that is serving to secure some loose plot lines in past months. As devoted fans recall, Donny Boaz (Chance) was taken off-contract earlier this year, which led to this character being off-screen from before Valentine’s Day 2021 through just past Thanksgiving.

The mission Chance accepted led him to confront underworld figures in Spain. He and the team he led were the victims of a targeted explosion, with Chance’s team members losing their lives.

Thankfully, Chance survived and made contact with longtime friends who helped to care for him at their home. Abby’s drive allowed her to quickly locate Chance, who was presumed dead and then convince him to return home.

Y&R Spoilers – Devon Hamilton Is Boy’s Biological Father

Devon would not have a legal leg to stand on if he were simply Abby’s friend. Godfather status is tied to a traditionally accepted promise to care for a child if one or both parents can not perform their duties or die.

The status Devon holds, as Dominic Newman Abbott Chancellor’s (Rainn and River Ware) biological father, theoretically gives him more sway than if he were a friend and the boy’s godfather.

Abby turned to Devon when she went to Spain. Devon made that point to her because it reflected Abby’s belief that he had Dom’s best interests in mind.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor Loses Her Family?

Abby told Devon that her family was finally together. By family, she meant herself, Chance, and Dom.

She resents Devon’s actions. In her opinion, Dom’s life will be disrupted by the plan Devon has to spend regular court-ordered time with Dom indefinitely.

Chance’s admission to Amanda projects Devon’s efforts being realized. If that happens, Abby may feel betrayed by her husband. That establishes the potential for Dom to be out of the mansion on certain days of the week and for Abby to potentially leave as well, as that fabled setting is part of Chance’s legacy.
