The Young And The Restless spoilers and updates tease Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) could easily lose hope over the loss of his mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Daniel just had a huge disappointment when Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) and Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) moved back to Portugal-he could let his job crash and burn!

Daniel’s whole reason for starting Omegasphere, his gaming platform, was to impress Lucy and Heather, when it really should have been his dream for himself. Daniel’s exhibited anger issues and depression in the past, making unhealthy choices for himself, and his teen years weren’t a whole lot better at times.

With problems going back that far unresolved, no wonder his adult years have been troubled as well; he’s likely still haunted by the death of Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes).

Daniel had been drinking as a teen and Cassie had gotten behind the wheel trying to get him home safely, but they got in a wreck and she eventually died from her injuries. Not long after, he and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) ran off to California and got married, but they were just too young and it didn’t last.

Daniel may have intended some tough love when he fired Phyllis from Omegasphere, a shock to the system to wake her up, but now she’s presumed dead. Guilt could eat him up, feeling now that he should have provided extra emotional support and could have kept her from getting mixed up with Jeremy Stark (James Hyde).

He may regret his lack of recognizing Phyllis’ downward spiral, and not talking to his sister Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) about having their mother committed for mental health treatment. But Phyllis’ self-consuming hate for Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) overshadowed her downward spiral-it was just too intense and that’s why Daniel and Summer backed away.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Lily Winters Fights Against Giving Up

Omegasphere isn’t in a dumpster fire just yet, but Lily will no doubt see that Daniel’s in trouble-he has a contract but his heart isn’t in it. He wanted to abandon the project before, but so far it’s just on hold, and Lily would understand it needing to remain that way for a while. But one big problem is, Phyllis isn’t dead-Stark, she and the EMT are in on her faking her death to frame Diane for her murder.

Daniel could crash and burn and let Omegasphere crash and burn with him, but when she’s found alive she may pay for her selfishness. Daniel will have once again gone on a self-destructive path because of Phyllis’ bad choices.
