The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) had a plan. She wanted to make contact with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and ask him to help her reestablish ties with their son.

Diane’s plan would have been challenging under normal circumstances, say if she had been estranged from Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) for reasons that were similar to the late Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) actions. However, Diane felt the need to use Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) as a Trojan Horse to play with Jack’s emotions because of the crimes she committed many years ago in Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Jack is not sympathetic to Diane’s cause. He is leery of her.

Bergman’s character is understandably tying Dina abandoning him and his sisters decades ago to Kyle’s current dilemma. Jack feels for the complex emotions that Kyle is feeling.

Like Kyle, Jack loved his mother while also feeling confused and angry. So, a range of emotions were seen when Dina reappeared in GC during the last leg of her life. Dina’s plea for a redemption opportunity is what Diane is calling for.

Y&R Spoilers – Ashley Abbott Is Too Harsh

Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) slur against Diane was inappropriate. But Davidson’s character also is skeptical about Allie’s intentions, as she impressed upon Jack in the recent past.

Ashley is being written as the hardened cynic because of her sporadic appearances. Davidson is a great actor who has been working on a recurring basis in recent times, which appears to be her choice.

However, it would be a bit more believable if Ashley were not as harsh moving forward. Davidson’s character has a rich history that goes well beyond bitterness that existed during the Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) reveal in the mid 1980’s and more recent revisit during Dina’s farewell arc.

Ashley is projecting her parental torments into Jack and Kyle’s situations. She is better than that. Hopefully, the writing staff deepens Davidson’s character’s nuance. Ashley does not need to be the cold counter to Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) open heart.

Jack, Ashley, Traci, Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), Dina, and others became Kyle’s family after Diane was supposedly murdered. His Abbott family raised him because his mother was perceived to be gone.

Kyle is tracking to allow Diane back in. But a difference-maker will also offer right-sized influence in all that he does with his mother.

Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) is teased to soon leave Milan, Italy. Kyle’s wife will do more than counter his mother in GC. Summer will have the decisive say, and fans know what her mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), thinks of Diane on Y&R.
