Devoted fans know that Skyle isn’t preparing to marry, they’ve agreed to re-marry. Of course, their first nuptials were a farce, as Summer pressured Kyle into marrying her as part of a deal to donate a kidney to Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) who became Lola Abbott.

That Skyle era is over. It’s been replaced by a mature version of Summer and an edition of Kyle who has become the sudden father of a three-plus-year-old son.

The just-announced remarriage plans represent this longtime couple’s first attempt to pursue traditional nuptials. Their love is driving that part of the storyline.

Summer recognizes that Kyle’s son has become his top concern. She honestly appreciates the paternal feelings that are in play and supports her fiance’s need to establish a relationship and legal access to Harrison.

Beyond the cavort Tara and Kyle had in New York, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) is also dealing with the devastating reality that he’s not Harrison’s father. That news made him mad but naturally created deep hurt.

Kyle didn’t have the luxury of preparing for the birth of his son. He wasn’t told that Harrison was on the way more than three years ago in New York. Kyle has to assert his rights now and hope for the best outcome.

As for Summer, her devotion means the world to Kyle. On this plot point, he would be wise to follow through with whatever her marital requests are. Mealor’s character needs the full support of his loved ones, as he’s just entered into a tumultuous period of his life that has no guaranteed outcome.
