Of course, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has already voiced his displeasure over Matt breaking the rules he put in place. Since Phyllis has joined forces with Matt, that’s putting her at odds with Victor, too.
Once Matt and Phyllis inevitably find themselves targeted at Arabesque, they may suspect Victor is responsible right off the bat. However, there could be someone else who’s actually behind the potential threat that’s brewing.
Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) tried to act nonchalant when Phyllis gloated about Victor giving her Arabesque, but he clearly wasn’t happy about it. Arabesque used to be Cane’s company, so he may ultimately decide he wants it back.
Cane might start cooking up a new takeover plot, especially if Phyllis, Matt and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) achieve some rapid success. Phyllis and her team might rebuild faster than anyone ever expected, so that could make Arabesque a more tempting prize.
Although Cane’s focus is running Chancellor Industries right now, Y&R spoilers suggest that may not be the case for much longer. The Abbotts might actually own Chancellor instead if Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) suspicions and research end up being proven correct.
Cane can always help Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) run Winters if his Chancellor CEO gig falls through, but that may not be enough for him. We could certainly imagine Cane wanting to gain control of Arabesque again so he can fold it into Winters next.

Cane might let Phyllis and Matt believe Victor is the one coming after them for a while. It could give Cane the upper hand and keep the element of surprise on his side.
Nevertheless, Matt and Phyllis could eventually realize there’s another mysterious threat bubbling up. Cane might be exposed as the person targeting the duo, so he could make a new enemy out of Matt and potentially stir up some danger!
