But then the Moustache followed his exploratory offer with a cryptic statement. He told Rey that circumstances can change, which could cause him to reconsider coming to work for Victor.

Rey sees his employment as part of a vocation. He is a police officer, it’s in his blood.

No one in Genoa City, Wisconsin, including Victor, would rationally have a problem with Rey or his chosen profession. Protecting the citizens of GC includes applying the law to those who don’t want to follow it or even worse, those who believe that the laws don’t apply to them or are wrong.

Injustice is a subjective term. For example, Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) confinement in Minnesota could cause any person to believe that Rey, her victim, received little to no justice through that outcome.

But Rey didn’t agree, with forgiveness and humility being part of his equation. Those stances aren’t taken by those who speak with emotional certainty about other people’s lives. Victor fits perfectly into that personality type.

Y&R Spoilers – Chelsea Lawson Reference Telling

Victor suspects that Chelsea will return to GC someday. He thinks that she is a threat to take Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and run off with him.

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) remains one of Victor’s top concerns. Adam has been doing well in his redemption efforts. That’s mostly because he’s not romantically involved with Chelsea or Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) or so Victor has concluded.

The goal is to keep Sharon with Rey and to keep Chelsea either out of town or permanently neutralized.

Just as Victor will always be involved with his children’s lives, as though they were chronological children, he’s also never stepping away from business.

Newman Media is the vehicle Victor is using to keep Adam occupied. But his son is willingly working with him.

Victor’s efforts to get Rey to work for him represents a different calculation, with unknown twists surely coming as soon as late this summer. The realization of Victor’s seeming plan would then put Rey on the payroll, which would remove him as a law enforcement threat.
