The “crazy betrayal” isn’t something that Nate will be able to get over easily, though. It could have a long-term impact on the character. Dominic spoke about the storyline and said the betrayal makes Nate question himself.

Y&R spoilers reveal that Ashland struck up a friendship with Nate. Right after meeting, Ashland asked Nate to be his best man. Nate was taken by surprise but agreed to it. Then, Nate and Ashland seemed to become friends. However, fans knew that the friendship was really one-sided. Nate was a true friend to Ashland while the villain had ulterior motives.

When Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) told Nate that Ashland was a fraud, he had a hard time believing it. Nate questioned Ashland, who insisted that he was innocent of the allegations. Then, Nate did his own research and discovered Ashland never had cancer at all.

When Nate confronted Ashland with the evidence, the villain showed absolutely no remorse. Then, the “Locke-ness Monster” threatened to destroy Nate as well as his medical career.

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Nate was blindsided by Ashland’s betrayal. At first, Nate wasn’t sure what to do about the situation. However, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) encouraged Nate to do the right thing even if his career was at risk. That is the type of man that Nate is, but the man is hurting more than anyone realizes.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Dominic admitted that Ashland’s “crazy betrayal” will make Nate question himself.

“Oh, he feels crazy betrayed. It’s made Nate really question himself fand his judge of character. I know if it happened to me, it would hit my ego hard. I would be asking myself, ‘How could I let this backstabber into my life? Why didn’t I see any red flags?’ But Ashland is a smooth operator. Nate doesn’t automatically think the worst of people but it’s a big learning curve if he goes into the business world. He’ll certainly learn some things the hard way.”

Being bamboozled so hard by Ashland could affect Nate’s character moving forward. Nate might not be so quick to trust people. Nate might even start to think the worst of everyone. While it’s healthy to have some skepticism and for one to pay attention, sometimes people can take it to the extreme. Will this happen to Nate, too? How will his sudden self-doubt affect his decisions about medicine, business and relationships in the future?

      I love the character Nate and this actors portrayal of him. I like that he isn't over done. The performance always seems real, not over acted and ridiculously soapy. I am hoping Nate will become closer to Victoria. I think that situation could really bring an interesting story involving Victoria, Nate and Elaina. Nate and Elana could use a good story and veteran Victoria could really bring them into a potentially entertaining new chapter. I also love Elanas character too, she is of the same caliber as Nate.
