But is it really a virus or could he be diagnosed with something far worse?

One theory is that Rey might have been poisoned. If he is told this by doctors, then that certainly would shatter his entire life. We know that Sharon will point the finger at Adam around that same time. So, it seems that this is all coming to a boiling point, but who is really responsible? The guilty party might not be as obvious as viewers think.
