According to the latest edition of Soap Opera Digest spoilers, the Young and Restless episode will center around a fantasy in which Adam and Victor play a surreal game of chess. Of course, many fans know that the two of them continually try to outmaneuver each other just as much in real life as they do on the chessboard. But this game is going to be a little bit different as Adam is at an emotional crossroad.

Speaking to the publication in a new interview, Y&R Co-Executive Producer and Head Writer Josh Griffith puts it this way, “He’s now at a place that’s forced him to re-evaluate his life after everything he’s learned about himself in the past year, which means really looking at the kind of man he has been and why he’s like that.”

The head scribe says that at the end of the day, it all really boils down to Adam’s daddy issues with his father.

Griffith continued, “It all ties back to his relationship with Victor. I thought that the dynamic between Victor and Adam has always been kind of like a battle, so I started thinking that their relationship has been this profound chess game. Now Adam’s dream has become this math between him and his dad, but Victor is telling his son that the rules are different so that he can become better and move on.”
