Kyle (Michael Mealor) believes that it’s only a matter of time before Billy (Jason Thompson) implodes on ‘The Young and theRestless’. That’s why he followed Summer’s (Hunter King) lead and engineered a gambling lure.
The massive money transfer that Kyle discovers seems set to sink Billy’s run at Jabot. While Ashley (Eileen Davidson) wanted no parts of her nephew’s unseemly scheme to undermine her brother, she does feel primed to retake the top spot when Billy’s own actions are likely used as a basis to oust him, or force his resignation. However, Kyle hasn’t done anything with the goal of helping his aunt become the next Chief Executive Officer.
The real plan is for Kyle to take over. He knows that the blood Abbott clause, set in Jabot’s bylaws by his dad, Jack (Peter Bergman) years ago, currently prevent him from becoming CEO. However, a future board vote could remove that barrier.
But all of the above does beg a pertinent question. What about Ashley?

Kyle must either be somehow framing Ashley while he’s also coercing Billy’s return to the gambling gutter, or another unknown factor is in play. Mealor’s Machiavellian play isn’t being made purely on the hope that he lands in the office where Billy added a see-through window and a high-def television with a premium cable package, according to Gloria (Judith Chapman). No, Kyle must be banking on what he believes is probable outcome in his favor.
There is nothing on Jabot’s top chemist’s current resume that would prevent her from benefiting from a future change in the blood Abbott clause, meaning that the Jabot board would vote to install her as Billy’s replacement. Separately and above Genoa City, viewers know that Davidson previously announced her voluntary departure from Y&R.
Current information indicates that Ashley will last be seen this month. Therefore it will be a matter of a week, or more before something very dramatic takes place, the deck chairs are shuffled, and a new captain is steering Jaboat.
