Y&R’s announcement that it would honor St. John during it’s week-ending episode is fully fitting, considering the universal respect this tenured actor had within the entertainment industry and due to his importance in this show’s history.

St. John joined the cast of Y&R in 1991, and went on to deliver consistently memorable performances across the next twenty-eight years. Neil was a major player in Genoa City, both on a business and personal level.

Victoria Rowell (Drucilla) teamed with St. John from the 1990’s through 2007, when she left the cast, to form what still ranks as one of Y&R’s most beloved couples. The Winters’ family also included Lily (Christel Khalil), who was later revealed to be Malcolm’s (Shemar Moore) biological daughter, and the son, Devon (Bryton James), Neil and Dru adopted.

The depth of emotion that’s been evidenced by many current and past Y&R cast members continues to underscore just how well respected St. John was. That is a key measure of any human being’s life, what other’s are willing to publicly say about that individual.

A particularly touching moment came earlier this week when Eric Braeden (Victor) became understandably emotional during a television interview about his cast mate and friend. Braeden’s personal thoughts offered fans a touching verbal glimpse behind the scenes.

Daytime fans bond with the characters and actors who play them in a way that’s deeper than those other entertainment fans experience, largely due to the daily nature of the genre. Y&R’s viewers, be they ones who’ve followed this actor’s career from the start, or those who began watching in more recent years, knew that this actor’s talent was special, while also feeling that he was a good man. On both accounts, they are right.

Kristoff St. John will always be fondly remembered by those who worked with him and by those who were fans of his work. His influence will continue to positively impact all lives he touched. That’s true of great people.
