Why The Young And The Restless Needs To Recast Chance ASAP

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal Abby continuing to try to deal with having this baby in her life on her own while other people long for him. She has no husband and this story makes less and less sense since she got married to have a baby.

If Chance is not going to be involved in this baby story at all, then why is he still married to Abby (Melissa Ordway) and why is she living in the Chancellor mansion? It’s not her home and Chance hasn’t been around since before Abby made a baby in a petri dish and housed said baby in Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) uterus. If this baby really is Abby’s, bring Chance back into the picture to make it make sense.

Donny Boaz proved to be a bit of a problem on the Y&R set, so we understand why he can’t come back, but Justin Gaston made a fine Chance and was even the one who married Abby so their wedding pictures can even be displayed. If not Gaston, there are plenty of other young actors out there in Hollywood looking for work who could play Chance. Why is this recast taking so long?

Chance isn’t even the biological father of this baby — Devon (Bryton James) is. If Abby isn’t going to have the intended father around, why should Devon have no rights to this child he loves so much? It makes no sense. The show can survive without Chance. But this baby story either needs Chance or it needs a custody fight — or even a maternity twist.

If Chance does return, there is drama there because he stayed away for so long. Abby might be angry at how he abandoned her and he might not even want to be a father to a child who is not biologically his at this point since he had very little say in how this entire conception and pregnancy happened. Abby informed him here and there and she just went full speed ahead because she had a one-track mind. Y&R needs to make up its mind if Chance is important to this story or not as fans are running out of patience. Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless weekdays to see how this story plays out.
