Wings Hauser Dead At Age 78, Young and the Restless Alum Passes AwaySome sad news for Young and the Restless and its fans. According to Variety, Wings Hauser, who played Greg Foster on the soap from 1977 to 1981 passed away from natural causes at 78 years of age. More details below.

Wings Hauser’s Acting Legacy

Hauser played a recast of Greg Foster, taking the role over from James Houghton, from 1973 to 1976, and Brian Kerwin, from 1976 to 1977.

Foster was an attorney, brother of Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), and was also Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) first husband.

Hauser would return to the soap in 2010 for three episodes when his mom, Elizabeth “Liz” Foster (Julianna McCarthy) was ill and passed away. After Hauser left the soap in 1981, the role was recast once again, with Howard McGillin stepping into the part.

With that said, Hauser’s acting legacy extends beyond the land of soaps. He played the villain, pimp Ramrod, in Vice Squad, released in 1982 – a movie where he also wrote and performed the theme song, ‘Neon Slime’.

In 1983, he wrote the story for the box-office hit, Uncommon Valor, which centered around his childhood friend, Gary Dickerson, who had been to Vietnam.

In addition, Hauser had participated in other film projects, Hear No Evil and Tough Guys Don’t Dance, just to name a few.

The actor also left an imprint within the land of primetime television, with over 40 guest appearances in shows that include, Beverly Hills 90210, Murder She Wrote, and Monk – among other.

Wings Hauser’s Family

Hauser also happened to be the father of Yellowstone star, Cole Hauser, who played Rip Wheeler in the popular Western drama.

In addition to his son, Wings is survived by a daughter from his first marriage, and Cali Lili Hauser, his fourth wife. Cali wrote on Facebook that Wings’ “… one-of-a-kind, legendary career spanned 58 years in movies, TV and music working alongside many of the greatest artists in the industry and earning their respect.”
