Young and the Restless News: Michael Muhney Announces Return To Acting—Here’s The Details

The Young and the Restless alum Michael Muhney announced his return to acting on Twitter. The actor has been missing in action for a couple of years, but according to his social media post, he needed time to regroup and center himself before continuing his fulfilling career.
Since leaving Y&R in 2014, the actor has been on a variety of shows and films including Correcting Christmas, The Track, Search Engines, and the ABC hit medical drama, The Good Doctor.
Young & The Restless Spoilers – Michael Muhney’s New Role
The Y&R alum plays Colin in the short film titled Sidepiece. Not much is known about this short film, other than it is the actor’s returning role to the acting world.
Muhney tweeted, “Took a step back the last few years Let go of my reps. I wanted and needed time with my wife and kiddos. Mediated on my bike a lot. Leaned on great friends. Found my inner OG strength. Hired new reps. Fell in love with work again on my short film. Wish me luck on this pilot season. I’m back.”
For many Y&R viewers, Muhney’s return to acting is great news. He was a fan favorite during his five-year tenure as Adam Newman. He mastered Adam’s complex nature, which is somewhat dark, but a tender heart. When he exited the role in 2014, many soap fans were upset and they demanded for him to return to the CBS daytime drama. However, Sony was not interested in the risk of bringing him back with the speculation and rumors of his inappropriate behavior.

Y&R Spoilers – Michael Muhney Struggled With Mental Illness
In an interview last year, Michael said that he never did anything wrong to cause his firing other than possibly butting heads with soap legend, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman). The actor said that it was a hard lesson to learn, but he learned to be more humble and able to take constructive criticism.
In addition to his struggles with a big ego, the actor wrestled thought of suicide after he lost his job at Young and the Restless. He said that his family had financial difficulties that he could help but feel responsible for.
