The Young and the Restless (Y&R) begins with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) sitting and talking to her comatosed mother, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and how Christmas was her favorite time of year is it. She says Nate (Brooks Darnell) has told them to prepare for the worse, but if there is no change, she has to believe Nikki is still fighting; suddenly the door opens and Victoria demands to know what that person is doing there.
Mia (Noemi Gonzalez) wakes up in bed with Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), feeling their night together is the best Christmas present for her. She reassures her that there is no one who can do the things she does to him. She loves that they are close again and things will be okay; Rey kisses her. Meanwhile, Sharon (Sharon Case) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) talk about her impromptu Christmas party at Crimson Lights; Mariah does find it inappropriate that Sharon’s married coworker is giving her presents, but Sharon says it is a token of their friendship and there is no need to read anything further into it; Mariah worries about her mother.
Billy (Jason Thompson) runs into Jack (Peter Bergman) at the Abbott house; both thrilled to have their brother back. Jack is filled with the holiday spirit and before Billy can find out why, Kerry (Alice Hunter) rushes down the stairs in a silky housecoat. Billy smiles as he greets her.
Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) reminds Nick (Joshua Morrow) to stay positive, inspite of Nate’s prognosis because Nikki is still there after 24 hours, and that has to count for something. She tells him it is Christmas Eve, and miracles do happen which is something he needs to hand onto. Noah (Robert Adamson) walks out of Nikki’s room and Nick hugs him tightly, not knowing he was coming.
Kerry returns fully dressed agreeing to go with Jack to Sharon’s Christmas party. He says Sharon is a great friend, but also former spouses. Kerry is surprised at how many exes he has, but says it speaks well of him for being on such good terms with them. He wants her to know that she is the only woman he wants to be with and the only one he invited to Bora Bora, hoping this is a new beginning. She admits that helps her faith in them.

Nick updates Noah on everything when Billy arrives and pushes Victoria to get out of the hospital for a while. She doesn’t want to leave her mother, but Nick tells her to enjoy some of the holidays. Victoria suggests Noah joins them so he can see Sharon, but he prefers his mother doesn’t know he is there as he needs some time to himself. Phyllis goes to sit with Nikki so Nick and Noah can talk.
Rey and Mia are the first to arrive. Mia right away talks about GC Buzz and that she would like to use her expertise as a stylist for her. Mia drags Mariah away to talk things through. Sharon questions Rey if he is happy, but he feels he has let go of his anger and is happy. Sharon tells him that is all she wanted for him. Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) walks in, learning that Sharon doesn’t like it, but she will have to accept it. Mariah tells Sharon she wants to be the people who mean the most to her and hopes that won’t be a problem.

Jack and Kerry walk in as Mariah tells Sharon she needs to at least make Tessa feel welcome. Victoria and Billy come and Sharon is happy Billy was able to get her out of the hospital for a while. Jack learns there has been no change in Nikki’s condition. Sharon distracts them that Rey is there, but Billy says they will have a couple drinks and leave.
Outside, Tessa lies to Mariah, saying she is going to see her sister in Canada; but Mariah sees through it. Tessa feels Mariah shouldn’t have to choose between her and her mother and believes the best gift she can give her is to leave. Mariah disagrees, saying she will find a way to split her life between Tessa and Sharon; a conversation Sharon overhears.

Phyllis talks to Nikki, telling her to channel her anger and wake up so they can find the bastard who motored her down. Phyllis has no problem Victor (Eric Braeden) goes down for JT’s murder, so she needs to wake up and prove Victor didn’t do it as she is needed there.
Noah says he spoke to Summer (Hunter King), who will remain in Dubai, in case Victor shows up. Nick feels whatever is going on, this is terrible timing and Victor needs to come home as it is the only thing that matters to Nikki. Nick introduces Noah to Nate, who reveals there is no change in Nikki’s tests and her not regaining consciousness is concerning. He tells Nick that the rest of the family needs to get down there and they shouldn’t wait!
Victoria, Billy, Jack and Kerry seem to be enjoying their time together, were Victoria has the extra fridge in the garage locked; knowing the kids won’t touch it since they think it is full of spinach. Billy is happy to see Victoria smile and laugh, telling her he has missed it.
Kerry talks to both Mia and Rey, as Sharon brings out hot apple cider to both Tessa and Mariah. Once again, Tessa apologizes and Sharon feels she will never accept the apology but she hopes for Mariah’s sake they will all be able to co-exist. Mariah hugs Sharon and then she kisses Tessa, as she promises she isn’t going anywhere.
Victoria goes to grab some cookies for the kids as Jack reveals he is taking Kerry to Bora Bora; saying that Nikki’s situation has only made him realize how precious things are and he really likes her and is going for it. Victoria’s phone rings and Nick tells her everyone needs to come down to the hospital and say their “goodbyes.”
Billy learns that Nikki might not see tomorrow; she angrily tells Rey that her mom is dying and he still hasn’t found the driver, but before she can say any more Billy takes her out of the coffee house. Mia takes Rey away, who still promises he will find who did this. Sharon and Jack are both told to go to the hospital as Tessa says she will close up because Sharon needs her right now. Jack feels it cannot end now, on Christmas Eve.
Phyllis says Nate gave them excellent advice as the Newmans need to give positive vibes for Nikki; she feels this could be a misunderstanding. Victoria and Billy arrive with their kids, Katie arriving as an angel and Billy feeling there is no better time for a guardian angel. He takes the youngest kids to get chocolate milk as Victoria breaks down demanding to know where Victor is; Reed is assured that Nikki is in no pain. Sharon and Jack arrive with Mariah, happy to see Noah; together they agree that Faith should be there too. Phyllis offers to go get her.

Rey walks in, and Victoria tells him he has no right to be there. He says he reached out to Dr. Hastings, wondering if there is something the medical team might have missed something the night Nikki came in. Nick is furious, shouting for Rey to leave as it seems he is only there to nail Victor. Nate stops the fight, saying they can all go see Nikki, but only in small groups and short visits. Rey walks away to talk to Nate in private.
Victoria suggests they all bow their heads and ask for a miracle, even though Nikki wasn’t a church goer. They all tearfully pray. Mariah meets Tessa outside, who has brought bags of stuff. Inside Nikki’s room, Victoria and Billy share with Nikki how all the kids are there and have made their art for her collection. Billy takes Johnny and Katie out, so Reed and Victoria can be alone with Nikki. Reed tells Nikki he loves her as Victoria says all they want is for Nikki to be home with them for Christmas before they both leave the room. Reed wants a minute alone, and texts Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry), saying that his grandmother is dying and he is going to confess everything to Rey.
Jack talks to Nikki about the first weekend they spent at the cabin while they were married. He reminisces how much she loved the changing colors in the trees. She told him that “God must surely be one hell of a painter!” Jack talks with such love, saying they were both jaded and weary but at that moment it felt like he touched the very core of her and saw her soul; which damn near knocked him off his feet. He apologizes for letting her down, and should have insisted on getting her to meetings and help. She begs her not to leave so he can make it up to her.
Nick, Sharon and Noah are in next, as Noah said he came home to see her for this Christmas and wants to see her for many more to come. Nick reminds her she is the heart and soul of this family and she cannot even think about… before he can finish the sentence she squeezes Noah’s hand.
Outside, Mariah presents everyone with candles, saying her mom inspired the idea by hoping Nikki would feel their presence. She wants them to send up their heartfelt prayers and feelings. Inside, Nick insists to Nate that he saw what Nikki did and Noah felt it. He is positive Nikki is coming back to them. Tessa begins to sing “Silent Night”.
Reed blows out his candle and goes back inside as everyone sings. He finds Rey, introduces himself as Reed Hellstrom, saying he needs to talk to him about something. Charlie rushes in and stops him, saying it was a mistake and needs to think about his grandmother and family. Reed apologizes for bothering Rey; but once Rey leaves Reed doesn’t know how much longer he can keep the secret.
Nate returns to the family after examining Nikki. He says the squeezing of Noah’s hand was an involuntary reflex and saw nothing to indicate she will gain consciousness. Nick walks away as they continue to sing outside. Nick, Sharon and Noah join the rest of the group, just as the doors to Nikki’s room open and Victor touches her hand, saying, “Merry Christmas my Darling!”
