Young and the Restless Spoilers for Tuesday, January 8: Victoria Threatens Phyllis – Nick Struggles – Billy Helps Reed

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) begins with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) telling Billy (Jason Thompson) that she feels the memorial for JT (Thad Luckinbill) should not be happening, especially in this house. She almost lets it slip that JT was killed in the house and now her father, Victor (Eric Braeden) is facing murder charges.

Billy feels bad that he agreed to the memorial before they talked about it; and suggests Victoria sit down Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) and tell him he needs to cancel the memorial.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Phyllis Comforts Nick

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) finds Nick (Joshua Morrow) in a daze, thinking about his parents – Victor denied bail and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) being under too much stress; Phyllis reminds him how tough his mother is. Nick admits that after spending time with Victor, he isn’t so sure his dad is the one who did this to JT. Phyllis advises him to quit going down this path or he is going to regret it.

Lola (Sasha Calle) is busy making food at home for Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), Mia (Noemi Gonzalez) and Kyle (Michael Mealor), reminding them this is the food she is going to present for the new restaurant for Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon (Bryton James). She needs them to taste it and this is her last chance to edit things. She gives them rules about only tasting the food and no grilling each other and she needs only honest feedback as this isn’t about her ego, only her future.

Ana (Loren Lott) comes downstairs as Devon and Fen (Zach Tinker) are listening to his final cut; but Ana admits she isn’t feeling it as he has the production all wrong. Both Devon and Ana are stubborn, sticking to their opinion. She says it is great and Devon is a fantastic producer but what is missing in the song is the emotion as the lyrics are lost under all the “polish”. Ana knows Devon knows what he is doing, but wishes he was open to a different approach. Devon asks Fen to choose and he says since Devon is the boss and it will always be up to him, so it is settled.

Billy continues to push Victoria, who feels she needs to be the parents and suck it up; owing him the closer but Billy feels he owes herself this too after all the pain JT caused her. Meanwhile, Nick needs to consider if Victor is innocent of this but Phyllis says he is very capable of murder, especially after Victor found out JT was hurting his daughter. Nick believes someone is setting him up, despite Victor having plenty of motive.

Phyllis reminds Nick that he has broken free from Victor and has been thriving but concerned that his Newman instinct is kicking in and is sure Victor will use that to his advantage. She makes him remember how many times Victor has burned him and begs for him not to be pulled back into Victor’s toxic orbit and to simply walk away.

Kyle listens as Mia wants to get into hockey, talking to Kyle about having box seats and suggests that Kyle take Rey out to some of those games. Kyle says he is up for it before he joins Lola in the kitchen. He tells her to think about only cooking for the three of them and she will ace it; Lola needs her space as Rey tells him no customers in the kitchen or he will have to call security.

Devon tells Ana their debate is only his way of teaching her about the music industry and it was in no way trying to make her feel like her opinion didn’t count. He takes a call upstairs and Ana confronts Fen about the song. He knows she feels disappointed but she needs to admit that Devon knows what he is talking about. She congratulates him on his diplomatic answer, but she knows how good the song could be.

Fen believes it is a done deal, but Ana wants to go behind Devon’s back and thinks if she has one more chance to show Devon her talent, they will have another win, song and for his career. She asks him to believe in her the way she believed in him and he sends her the music file against his better judgement.

Lola’s first course was called “traditional” as Mia and Rey question why she went off brand. Lola wants to expand her brand and when she asks Kyle; he says the food was made by a very talented chef but it could be done by any chef; all her key elements were missing that make the dish special. She drops the plates as she is frustrated, feeling she doesn’t know what she is doing.

Reed comes home, wondering if Victoria is putting off talking to him and feels that his mom is avoiding him over the memorial. Reed says he loves his father but also has a part that hates him; Billy says every relationship is complex. Reed wonders if his mom wants him to call everything off. Victoria, in the mean time, tells Nick and Phyllis about JT’s memorial and they promise to be there for Reed.

Victoria goes on the defensive when Phyllis says all the evidence is pointing to Victor killing JT. She tells Nick not to listen to Phyllis as they need to stand by their dad and fight for him. He says he is there 100% for Victoria and Nikki, but he doesn’t know how much he can give Victor.

Fen listens to how Ana modified the song while they sit at Crimson Lights. He apologizes for doubting her, saying her version is better than Devon’s. He encourages her to tell Devon that she wrote the song and that is why she is so passionate but he also enjoyed her being in the studio. He’d like her to be more involved in his career and together they agree to make it happen.

Rey hugs Lola, as both Mia and Kyle are sorry. She feels she is in way over her head. Kyle says she is overwhelmed and this is her dream; but Lola isn’t so sure. She believes it was too much as she is only a food truck girl. She wants to call Abby, saying they need a new head chef as she doesn’t want to make a bigger fool of herself than she already has.

Billy tells Reed that his mother is completely on board and whatever conflicted feelings she has about JT, fail in comparison to how much she loves Reed. Billy hopes they find closure as Reed is doing this for his dad and Victoria does this for him. Nick leaves Victoria and Phyllis alone, when Victoria angrily confronts Phyllis about her need for revenge on Victor.

Kyle asks Lola to hear him out, with Rey and Mia listening Kyle tells Lola that he knows this is a massive undertaking but she will figure it out, just like she did when she started out with the food truck. He reminds her that Devon and Abby hired her for what she brings to the table – literally. He tells her to stop second guessing herself and if she puts all her love and passion into her food and let Abby and Devon do the rest, success will come. Rey stands behind Kyle, saying how driven Lola has always been. Mia talks about her crazy recipes and that her cooking is at the next level and now she has perfected her craft because she has earned it and she needs to remain true to herself. She gets back up and cooks more food.

Devon listens to the remix that Ana made; he says different doesn’t make it better. Devon is offended by their lack of respect by them going behind his back again. Ana says Fen had nothing to do with this so Devon asks him to leave as this is between Ana and Devon. Before Fen leaves, he says music means as much to her as it does him and Ana has plenty of talent too.

Devon feels Ana has been taking advantage of him since she came to town and believes this is the second time she has shown to him she is only after her own ambition and moving forward she isn’t to have anything to do with LP.

Victoria feels Phyllis has always had her own agenda since JT died; but Phyllis says she has always hated Victor because of what he did to her and Jack (Peter Bergman). Victoria says Victor served his time for the hideous crimes he did, although Phyllis says it wasn’t justice. She tells Victoria this is the justice she has been seeking for years and the longer Victor suffers, the better!

Devon leaves the penthouse, saying Ana has proven she cannot be trusted. He needs to run his life and business without her interfering and orders her to back off.

Everyone tries Lola’s food as Kyle says he has tried dozens of dishes from top chefs and this is along with them. Mia feels the dish was phenomenal as Rey says if she replicates these dishes tomorrow, Devon and Abby will know they were absolutely correct in making her head chef. Kyle hugs Lola making Mia drag Rey out of the apartment so the two can have some alone time. Kyle kisses her as she thanks him for reminding her of her strength when she needed it the most.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Billy And Reed Plan JT’s Memorial

Billy brings pizza to help Reed prepare for the memorial stuff. Reed thanks him for always being so cool with him and being there for his mom, even though she thinks she is strong enough to go it alone. Billy promises they are in this together.

Phyllis dismisses Victoria; but she reminds Phyllis that Nikki is walking a very fine line right now and distraught with guilt so if she finds out Phyllis is turning Nick against Victor, there is no stopping her. Phyllis calls Nikki an “idiot” if she confesses; saying both Victoria and Nikki have poisoned themselves with some perversely misplayed worship of Victor.

She calls Victoria she is a walking swap of “daddy issues” and that Victor is as vile as JT was and deserves exactly what he gets. Victoria slaps Phyllis, ordering her to never talk to her father like that. Phyllis says she will say anything she wants about her father; but Victoria warns her if she keeps fanning the flames, she is going to get burned. Phyllis tells her not to threaten her but Victoria says, “Pay attention. I just did!”
