Young and the Restless Spoilers: Is Kyle a Bad Guy Or Is He Finally Seeing Clearly?

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers has shown that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is having a hard time with the breakup but not because of his decision to accept his feelings for Summer Newman (Hunter King) but because of what he put Summer and Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) through while he was determined to hide his feelings from himself.

Kyle and Lola’s divorce will pick up attention from the ones close to them, and Kyle is prepared for the backlash he may face from his decision to get back with Summer.

The Young and the Restless Spoilers – Is Rey Rosales A Manipulator?

However, after his conversation with Lola’s brother, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), Kyle wondered if Rey’s words were true and if he was really just a manipulator and/ or selfish. This leads to the question of if Kyle is a “bad guy” like people may view him, or is he just finally accepting what he has known all this time?

As many Y&R fans know, Summer and Kyle have a long history compared to Lola and Kyle. Lola first appeared in September of 2018 after Kyle gave up trying to pursue Summer (who at the time was attempting to start a relationship with her mother’s boyfriend at the time, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and was planning on moving on with his life. He then met Lola, who seemed to be the opposite of Summer, and they eventually hit it off and began pursuing a relationship with each other.

Summer would eventually realize that she was in love with Kyle the whole time but did not realize it until it was too late as Kyle was already head over heels for Lola. This would cause a problem in the new couple’s relationship as Lola became insecure about the relationship. Kyle would continue to go after Lola until she was pushed into a pool by Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez) and needed a new liver.

Summer being a match, was approached by Kyle, who offered to marry her if she donated her liver, and Summer agreed. The marriage wouldn’t last long since Kyle went right back to Lola and then eventually married her. Summer would go on to support Kyle but was still very much in love with him even as she was dating Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson).

Looking at the past actions of Kyle it seems, that since he picked Lola, that it would not make sense for him to pick Summer suddenly. However, some of his actions over time does show that he may never have gotten over Summer, to begin with.

Going back to 2018, Kyle jumped into a relationship with Lola not long after he had decided to give up on a future with Summer. This means he didn’t give himself time to get over Summer before moving on to Lola. He does acknowledge Summer always being in his heart, which would make sense because he never took the time to get over her.

Fast forward to when Lola needed a Kidney, Kyle immediately threw out the idea of marrying Summer as soon as he found out that she was a match for Lola. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) would go on to saying, once Kyle talks to him about ending his marriage with Lola, that Kyle never gave Summer the chance to give Lola her kidney out of the goodness of her heart but instead offered to marry her. Well, why would that be the first thing he would jump to unless he wanted to marry Summer right off the bat.

Even when they were married, Kyle broke one of the rules that he came up with for Summer to follow. This rule was that they would not sleep together, but Kyle decided to sleep with Summer anyways. Sure, he would go on to marry Lola, but even Kyle said that he did it to live up to Lola’s expectations.

So, is Kyle a manipulator? Well, there isn’t any evidence that he knowingly manipulated Summer or Lola. Was Kyle selfish? Well, he kind of was in away. He may not have meant to be, but he did use Summer’s feelings for him and continued to confide in Summer about anything that was bothering him. Not only that, but he also broke both Lola and Summers’ hearts at one time or another.

He would even go on to talk about how he broke their hearts with the choices he made. Not to mention that he dated Lola, so he could play hero as he said when talking with Jack. Regardless this might be the best decision for him to make instead of them both staying in a loveless marriage or even worse a marriage where Lola would have always known that Kyle’s heart was somewhere else.
