Young and the Restless Spoilers: Is There Hope For Sharon Newman, Can Rey Rosales Handle Cancer Rollercoaster?

The Young and the Restless: Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) sighed in relief on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She was anxiously awaiting a call from her doctor and decided to take control. Sharon called herself, learning that a lumpectomy is projected.

The procedure that is scheduled is intended to remove the cancer Sharon is attempting to defeat in a less invasive way than was feared. A mastectomy was considered possible, but now hopefully won’t be needed.

Meanwhile, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) has remained strong for the woman he loves. But he admitted to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) that he’s open to some support as well.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Sharon Newman’s Fight Continues

The lumpectomy will need to take place. Until her doctor determines that all is well, this cancer fight will continue.

Sharon was naturally scared when she was told that the chemotherapy treatments hadn’t proved as effective as hoped. The tumor that’s in her breast hadn’t shrunk. So further actions have to be taken, which caused Sharon to really wonder if the mastectomy option would be necessary. Now, apparently, it won’t.

Of course, Sharon’s loved ones who are in Genoa City, Wisconsin, including Rey, Nick, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and a just-returned Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), are concerned. Like Sharon, they are encouraged by the hopeful news, while also remaining cautiously optimistic.

Y&R Spoilers – Support Of Loved Ones Vital

There are surely various Y&R viewers who have either been, or are in Sharon’s position, and, or have served (or are serving) as support for their loved ones. Those real-life experiences make this storyline especially meaningful.

Nick knows Sharon like no one else. The one-time ‘Shick’ have had their ups and downs in the past, but remained connected. Most importantly, their children created an eternal tie.

Mariah came into Sharon’s life during the last decade. Cassie Newman’s (Grimes’ initial Y&R role) identical twin fills a unique place in Sharon’s life, with Tessa also adding to the love she feels.

Noah Newman (Robert Adamson), Sharon and Nick’s older child, was in town recently and is able to remain in touch from Europe. Faith is Sharon and Nick’s youngest child. Her choice to leave boarding school to be with her mom during this period affirms the warm heart Faith has always had.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Bonding Sessions Welcomed

Nick and Rey have been almost buddies and then rivals since Vilasuso’s character was written into the show in the summer of 2018. Rey was initially investigating J.T. Hellstrom’s (Thad Luckinbill) disappearance, which put the Newman’s under his soapy microscope. It was natural that Nick and Rey clashed. Rey’s interest in Sharon also sparked Nick’s protective instinct.

Digitally skipping to now, Nick and Rey are cool with each other. Nick’s offer to have some buddy movie-type fun whenever that’s needed was welcomed, as Sharon’s ordeal is having an effect on Rey’s psyche.

Rey should be commended for staying with Sharon through this. Not all men have what it takes to stay with even a wife facing this terrible disease. True story; I knew a woman in church who had breast cancer and her husband left her because of it—husband’s first name was Jack and we other ladies who were supporting Diana decided Jack had a new last name!
