Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint at more bicentennial fun (and drama) in the days to come. While fans swoon over the show’s 50th-anniversary milestone, some might be forgetting another big event that deserves celebrating: five incredible years of actor Michael Mealor playing Kyle Abbott.

Many Y&R viewers were a tad skeptical at first when the soap announced back in 2018 that Kyle would be returning and Mealor was the recast. After all, there had been three adult “Kyles” before him that didn’t seem to quite “stick” in the role. Michael debuted in the land of Genoa City on March 29, 2018, and audiences fell in love fast. In fact, he’s accomplished a tremendous feat that all his predecessors could not; he’s lasted in the role for far longer than a year.

Kyle returned with revenge on his mind, teaming up with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to bring his father Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) down. Thankfully, the father-son duo came back together, despite attempts from the Moustache to sway his former stepson. Jack and Kyle have established a beautiful bond and are now closer than ever.

Over the years, Y&R viewers have seen Kyle’s on-and-off love affair with Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) finally blossom into something beautiful. Although there was a point in time when many viewers were #TeamKola when Abbott dove into a romance with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) in an interesting love affair. Of course, who could forget his nemesis Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) becoming his long-lost cousin? Or all the drama Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) brought him and Summer’s way? Although, without Tara, there’d be no Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez), and the young boy has helped Kyle grow up, and evolve into a fantastic father and husband.
