The Young and The Restless spoilers tease that Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) could make a return appearance to Y & R sometime in the future once production resumes; Malcolm was mentioned by Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) in a recent episode.
The Young and the Restless News – All Production Of CBS Programming Has Halted Due To Covid-19, But “SWAT” Ended It’s Season Early
As fans undoubtedly know, all production of CBS and other networks programming has halted temporarily due to Covid-19, but “SWAT”, where Shemar plays Hondo Harrelson in the primetime series. Primetime shows ended their seasons a few episodes short of where they were supposed to, and so when production ramps up again after the end of the lockdown and the world is relatively safe again, he might have some time to reprise his character of Malcolm Winters for a short arc before he has to return to filming his primetime show.
Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Shemar was the original Malcolm Winters, brother of Neil Winters, and reprised his role for the special tribute episode honoring Neil’s portrayer, the late Kristoff St. John. So, considering Shemar may have a little more time on his hands before production on “SWAT” resumes, it’s not at all unlikely he might come back to Genoa City for a short arc – say, if the writers decide to have his nephew Nate get married!
The Malcolm mention took place in the scenes showing Nate’s first formal date with the lovely Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). Current spoilers suggest that she has some Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) baggage, but that doesn’t mean there might not be a “Namanda” wedding sometime in the future! Nate is a handsome young doctor and Amanda is a beautiful young attorney – that combination is just too good to waste by breaking them up! Besides, Nate’s cousin Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is available to pair with Billy for more than boardroom meetings over at the new Chancellor Media!
Y&R News – A Short History Of Malcolm Winters
Longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will remember Shemar as the original Malcolm Winters from 1994 to 2005, with additional appearances in 2014 and 2016. Malcolm first arrived in Genoa City in 1994, determined to rebuild his relationship with his estranged half-brother, Neil Winters. Neil, at first, wanted nothing to do with his rebellious younger half-brother, but eventually decided to give him a second chance. With the help of Blade Bladeson (Michael Tylo), Malcolm became Genoa City’s most prominent photographer.
He then developed a friendship with Neil’s wife Drucilla Barber (Victoria Rowell) and was instantly smitten with her, but nothing becomes of it. However, Malcolm later discovers Drucilla after she has taken a good dose of cold medication, and thus mistakes Malcolm for Neil. After Drucilla calls out for Neil, making Malcolm realize her advances were not intended for him, Malcolm chose to rape her. The following morning, Malcolm realizes what a mistake he has made and confides his crime to Dru’s sister, Olivia (Tonya Williams).
Nine months later, Drucilla gave birth to a daughter, Lily Winters. Having convinced herself that Neil was Lily’s father, Dru forgave Malcolm and Olivia soon fixed him up with her hospital colleague, Keesha Monroe (Wanda Acuna). They fell in love and married, just before Keesha died of AIDS. Malcolm then developed a relationship with recently widowed Olivia and grew very attached to her son Nathan Hastings, Jr. Malcolm and Olivia married in 1997. One year later, Malcolm’s ex-girlfriend arrived in town and Olivia became jealous that Malcolm was spending so much time with her.
Olivia’s insecurity ultimately destroyed her marriage to Malcolm. In the meantime, Malcolm continues his close relationship with his former stepson Nate, who viewed Malcolm as his father. Malcolm left town for a couple of years and when he returned, he demanded that Dru take a paternity test to determine once and for all if he is Lily’s biological father. When Malcolm is proven to be Lily’s father, he and Dru decide to keep it a secret and he leaves town again. While Malcolm was gone, Lily and Neil discovered the truth about her paternity but were unable to contact him. Four years later, Malcolm returned to Genoa City while secretly working undercover as a corporate spy for Tucker McCall (Stephen Nichols).

He is easy to look at, but he is too good of an actor to be on the Young and Restless with the poorly written stories that seem to be the norm at this time.
Yes I miss him. Would be nice to have him stop in for a short stint.
If Amanda has any brain in her head at all, she will hold on to Nate and drop Billy like a hot potato. If Lily becomes involved with Billy I will be shocked. She is way too smart for that. It’s nice to see Lily wearing pants instead of the short skirts she always wore. She looks good.
This would be great. He is such a great actor
