Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that an old familiar face is set to return to the land of Genoa City. The show recently confirmed that actress Veronica Redd will reprise her role as Mamie Johnson, The Abbott Family’s beloved ex-nanny, later this month.

Y&R spoilers state that Redd will reprise her Mamie role, starting Tuesday, September 26th. No further details have been provided, so it’s hard to say how long this run will last, this time around.

Mamie’s return couldn’t have come at a better time. The Abbott children, mainly Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) have been at each other’s throats as of late.

Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) back into her favorite role as peacemaker, and placing Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) smack dab in the middle of their feud.

Thanks to Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters) recently “saving” Ashley’s life, it seems as if a truce is on the horizon, but with this family, nothing is for certain.

The Mamie Johnson character originated in 1982 and was played by actress Marguerite Ray until 1990. Redd was recast into the role later that year, and Johnson was seen on and off until 1995, returning in 1999 until 2004.

Of course, she made a splashing comeback earlier in 2023 when she attended Genoa City’s Bicentennial Gala, catching up with the Abbott kids (and grandkids), as well as having a “run-in” with once-nemesis Jill Abbott (Jesse Walton).

What brings Mamie back to GC this time around? While she spent most of her time with the Abbotts during the bicentennial celebration, will she catch up with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), and Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James) during her fall comeback?

After all, these kids are the offspring of her nieces Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell) and Olivia Barber (Tonya Williams). Only time will tell.
