Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) and Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) suspected Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But that made them no different than her own daughter, Summer Newman (Hunter King).

No, Phyllis didn’t spike the sangria at The Grand Phoenix’ opening. But she thought she knew who did. Her savvy approach to Zoe Hardisty (Anna Grace Barlow) at Chancellor Park resulted in an easily coaxed admission of guilt, which was also the confirmation of a crime.

While Abby sent Phyllis’ call about the above to voice mail, she and Chelsea later come to realize that Stafford’s legacy character is valuable.

Phyllis knows that she’s fighting her own reputation. So, Miss Summers convinced herself that it was still best to attend The Grand Phoenix opening bash.

That choice proved infinitely valuable, as the hotel’s security system didn’t contain any visual information that would have tagged Zoe as responsible for the mass drugging. As Y&R viewers see, Barlow’s character is arrested.

Y&R Spoilers – Feedback Unexpectedly Positive

While approximately one hundred people unintentionally ingested drinks that were drugged, the feedback from what happened hasn’t been harsh so far. Abby and Chelsea are pleasantly surprised by that response, but they’re also aware that a lot of work needs to be done to overcome this unusual publicity.

Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) was indirectly responsible for what happened. While he didn’t pour the chemicals into the sangria pitchers himself, he is the person who is Zoe’s contact.

Little did Theo, or Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) know, but Zoe has been harboring a grudge about what happened in New York for the past three years. She told Phyllis that those guys fed her drinks, laughed at how she responded, and then dumped her at an emergency room.

It’s possible all that’s just happened could have been avoided, but Zoe was wise to Theo’s use of her as a prop to poke Kyle. And, she was humiliated by Summer’s condescending attitude. That convinced her to carry out this revenge plan.

Young & The Restless Spoilers – It’s Just Business In Genoa City

Abby knows that Phyllis’ idea and efforts sparked The Grand Phoenix. She approached Abby to become an investor because Phyllis needed capital.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) overheard Phyllis saying that she was going to dump Abby sometime after the hotel opened, which he passed along to Ordway’s character. That’s when Abby decided to cut Phyllis out.

Chelsea took advantage of Phyllis’ misfortune and purposefully offered her services as the hotel’s manager to Abby. That’s why it appeared as though Phyllis was done with Genoa City, Wisconsin’s, newest trending business.

But Phyllis represents what the hotel’s name projects. She’s the phoenix, as Abby and Chelsea now recognize. While not an easy person to work with, reincorporating Phyllis into this potentially emerging business could be a smart move when considering recent history, rather than the distant past.
