Sure, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is angry at Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) for the moment on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Who wouldn’t be after learning that he was the one, not Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), who kidnapped her? However, their common enemy might just bring Phyllis and Kevin together.

Adam often goes way too far. He believes that cheating death on a few occasions, which involved Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson), and his woe-is-me stance, along with cunning, are enough to push anyone’s buttons without life-altering blowback. Yes, he hasn’t learned.

But the paired power of Phyllis’ desire to right her life and Kevin’s goal of removing the leech that is Adam, so that the ‘Khloe’ family can be together, is noteworthy. The intellect possessed individually by Phyllis and Kevin is large. When paired, they are more likely to beat Adam.

Kevin just realized that Adam is never going to let him go. Retrieving digital video footage that showed Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) pulling off his J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) disguise was thought to be the last sleazy task that Kevin needed to perform. No, Adam thinks he’s too valuable and isn’t willing to move on.

Adam’s leverage against Kevin was mostly one-fold. He hadn’t told Phyllis that Kevin was her abductor. Well, that card is gone.

Any hold Adam had over Chloe, due to her faked death, seemingly has been neutralized by admitting (to her) that she shot him. Sure, Chloe would be arrested if Adam comes forward, but he would face a false filing charge and then have to explain why he was holding Chloe against her will.

As for Phyllis, she paired with him a few weeks ago and has since accepted his job offer to head Dark Horse. But whatever she knows about Chance Chancellor (John Driscoll) is obviously useful, as Adam gave her that position as a compromise. He didn’t want Phyllis to reveal to the Newman’s what she knows for as yet undefined reasons.

Phyllis and Kevin might not want to collaborate. But the potential of them at least neutralizing, if not defeating Adam should be apparent and possibly, utilized.
