Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) is very devious on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She hid an extra memory stick with J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) evidence on it and stacks of cash that were extorted from Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) inside a large, stuffed teddy bear. Then, Miss Porter had the box her insurance was stored in sent to the too tight apartment so that Mariah (Camryn Grimes) would be reassured all has been righted, when it hasn’t.

The coverup crew is not out of danger, as Tessa wants Mariah to believe. Instead, an open threat is tied to Sharon’s (Sharon Case) daughter. One could easily project Tessa as an ongoing source of trouble for Grimes’ brave character.

It takes moxie to be pursuing Mariah’s agenda. She is attempting to convince Tessa that the coverup crew hasn’t been told about the blackmail angle. Mariah said that Sharon and the rest are only looking out for themselves and so there was no need to rat out Tessa.

Mariah seems to believe that she’ll be able to learn if Tessa dug up J.T.’s body and pass that crucial information along to her mom before Fairbanks’ character will catch on to what’s happening. That’s extremely risky.

Meanwhile, Tessa appears to be at least two steps ahead of everyone. She’s again lied to Mariah, stating that the blackmail money was given to charity and having retained a backup memory stick. Knowing those plot points are real, Y&R fans must also consider if Tessa’s strongest leverage is having moved J.T.’s body to an undisclosed area.

With all factors considered, seasoned soap viewers must believe that Tessa’s time in Genoa City is growing short. She will either act rashly when, not if, Mariah discovers the hidden truths, or preemptively leave town with the valuable teddy bear.

Retaining the cards above would allow Tessa to gain a new life, while also maintaining remote power over the coverup crew. So Y&R fans know that the teddy bear will, in some way, prove to be key to the approaching climax of this storyline arc.
