Richard Burgi has played the role of Ashland on The Young And The Restless for the past year. However, Burgi did not renew his contract and announced a few days ago that he was done with the show. Burgi did not announce his last air date or Ashland’s fate but he has become very important to the show. However, answers are starting to immerge with the reveal of the Newman recast. Will Ashland’s cancer resurge while we are waiting for the actor switch to take place? Will the recast happen without a break to avoid disrupting the story between Ashland and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle)? Could the couple move on as a power couple now that Ashland has been recast?

The Young And The Restless’ Newman played the evil Kirk Cranston for a short stint on NBC’s Santa Barbara. Of Course, Cranston was a very disturbed man who tortured Eden Capwell (Marcy Walker) as well as her boyfriend Cruz Castillo (A Martinez). Cranston even tried to kill the couple with the help of Gina DeMott (Robin Matson) at one point.

However, Newman is better known for playing good guy Josh opposite Reva Lewis (Kim Zimmer). Of course, Newman is probably thrilled to pay a different type of character on The Young And The Restless.

The Young And The Restless’ Victoria may not know Ashland very well but she is impressed with the man. Ashland may even remind Victoria of her father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). What do fans have to look forward to now that Victoria and Ashland will continue into the new year? Is Ashland Victoria’s true soulmate?

Now that Newman has returned to daytime after concentrating on his stage career for some time, it will be nice to see what he does with Ashland’s character.
