Yellowstone’s spinoff, 1923, is coming back for a second and final season. As the show is currently filming, many fans have speculated who will return for this encore season, and who won’t be. Helen Mirren and Harrison (Cara Dutton) Ford (Jacob Dutton) have been confirmed; however, Brandon Sklenar’s status has been iffy. Until now.

Last fans saw Sklenar’s character, Spencer Dutton, as he was separated from his girlfriend Alex (Julia Schlaepfer) and arrested. The two promised to meet in Montana, and both screamed out, “I love you” (a first for each of them), but it was unclear if they heard what the other said. So, what happens next?

Sklenar recently told Forbes during an interview that he was five days away from heading to Texas to start work on 1923, Season 2, confirming his status for the series.

When it comes to the second season, Sklenar had this to say, “I’ve had all the scripts for six months. I can confidently say that it’s going to be absolutely incredible. The tone shifts a lot and it’s definitely a bit darker. It’s very beautiful.”

“1923” Season 2 Spoilers: Sklenar Hints At What Can Fans Expect

During the interview, the actor also teased that he’d be sharing scenes with Mirren and Ford, which hints that Spencer will likely make it to Montana.

He adds, “I mean, the finale of the series is probably one of the best things I’ve read in my life. I’ve kind of known how it was going to end since day one — Taylor [Sheridan] kind of told me. I knew the full arc of Spencer from day one, so in shooting part one, [you’re] mindful of where he needs to go. I’m really excited.”

1923, Season 2’s premiere date has not been announced as of yet; however, it’ll likely be released sometime in 2025 on Paramount+
