And they found that motivation by creating the Reagan family. This Irish-American Catholic clan felt pride in its law enforcement history, and fans grew to know and love each family member gathered around that now famous dinner table.
But perhaps no cast member has carried Blue Bloods from that initial premiere to today more than Tom Selleck.
In his role as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, Selleck has helped viewers to know and love the characters portrayed by the rest of the cast.
From Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, and Will Estes to Len Cariou, the talented Blue Bloods team has gotten us invested and eager for more.
And just in time to whet our appetites for the October 2021 premiere of season 12, a Blue Bloods video clip has become available!

Blue Bloods YouTube Video Offers Donnie Wahlberg Insights
For Blue Bloods fans who can’t wait for season 12, a new DVD set featuring season 11 offers some additional features.
Included in the DVD set are new clips, bonus content, and even deleted scenes, per the Looper. One feature from the Blue Bloods DVD season 11 box set offers a clip called “Shades of the Blue.”
Because the clip focuses on the “Guardian Angels” dinner scene, various Blue Bloods cast stars involved in that episode offered their perspectives.
That dinner scene ranks as one of the most argumentative family dinners, with the Reagan family members each contributing a different way of looking at a relative’s recent injury.
“Despite the fact that it’s a law enforcement family, it’s a law enforcement family with a lot of differing opinions,” pointed out Donnie Wahlberg. Portraying one of the key characters, Detective Danny Reagan, Wahlberg pointed out the clashes among family members.
“On any given dinner scene, you could have eight people at the table, all with eight different opinions of a real-life situation that’s occurring,” added the actor.
Blue Bloods Star Will Estes Reflects On Attack Episode
Supporting Wahlberg’s perspective, Blue Bloods star Will Estes (Jamie Reagan) offered his views on the “Guardian Angels” dinner scene, which featured in season 11, episode 11.
During that episode, Jamie’s wife Eddie (Vanessa Ray) gets attacked by a suspect who was released on bail.
The Reagan family argues about why that criminal, whose history included the assault of another police officer, stepped outside the prison walls. And although Danny expresses anger at the situation, his sister Erin (Bridget Moynahan) disagrees.
As the New York City assistant district attorney, Erin must stand behind the bail laws even though those laws let criminals roam.
“Maybe we can tell a perspective that hasn’t necessarily been told, as storytellers,” pointed out Estes. “Maybe that brings us all closer together. I think that’s the kind of goals a television show can have, that I think that we may be able to do well.”
