Blue Bloods Spoilers: Joe Hill Returns In CBS Show’s Season Finale

Blue Bloods: Joe Hill Blue Bloods spoilers tease that Joe Hill (Will Hochman), the son of Joe Reagan (uncast character) will make a return to Blue Bloods in the two-hour season finale, set to air on May 14.

Blue Bloods Spoilers – Joe Hill, The Missing Reagan At The Family Dinner Table

Blue Bloods viewers will recall that Joe is missing Reagan at the family dinner table, even though Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) had invited him. Joe had decided after people found out that he was a Reagan that others in the police department began treating him differently than before and he didn’t like it. It was supposed to stay quiet but was inadvertently publicized and so he decided to distance himself from the rest of the Reagans, even from the family dinners on Sundays. Sometimes when a cop is the grandson of the police commissioner it doesn’t make his job easier, it makes it harder. However, Joe will make a return in the two-hour season finale and he will be undercover.

Also in the finale, actress Gloria Reuben will play an Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, otherwise known as ATF Special Agent named Rachel Weber. She will be overseeing an undercover operative out in the field – Joe Hill! Gloria Reuben starred as nightclub singer Thelma Gleffy in the series of Jesse Stone films Tom Selleck starred in prior to the premiere of Blue Bloods. Jesse Stone was a small-town cop, quite a departure from Tom’s character of New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. According to Blue Bloods executive producer Kevin Wade, Rachel and Frank will act like a pair of divorced parents over what is best for their child who they share custody of, and frequently will argue over the situations Joe finds himself in as an undercover operative in the field. Question is, what does Joe want and where does he fit in between his two would-be parent figures? More about Joe Hill and what he wants may be revealed in this two-hour episode.

Blue Bloods Spoilers – Who Was Joe Hill’s Father, Joe Reagan?

Longtime Blue Bloods viewers will remember that the character of Joe Reagan was never actually cast; he was deceased in the pilot episode but referred to frequently. Joseph Connor Reagan only ever appeared in a photograph, which is sometimes still seen featured prominently in Frank’s office at the NYPD. He was actually the third child, not the oldest of Frank Reagan and his late wife Mary Margaret Reagan, who also was never cast on the show and has only appeared in photographs. Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) is actually the oldest, followed by Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan), then Joe, then Jamie. Joe was killed by a member of “The Blue Templar” was an organization formed to police the police because of corruption but became corrupt themselves.

Joe Hill’s mother is Paula Hill (Bonnie Sommerville) a former classmate and girlfriend of Joe Reagan. Neither Joe nor the Reagan family knew that he had a son with his girlfriend until very recently when Sean Reagan (Andrew Terraciano) delved into genealogy and found he had a relative he didn’t know about after sending his DNA to a genealogy company, similar to the real-life “23 and Me”. Sean channeled his father Danny in the respect he did some detective work to find his unknown relative, finding out he had a cousin. He arrived at the police department to tell his grandfather Frank about what his DNA results found, telling him it was part of a school assignment, and later Abigail Baker (Abigail Hawk) told Frank that Paula Hill (a family friend of Frank) was there to see him but didn’t give a reason. Coincidentally, Paula informed Frank that her son Joe had joined the NYPD, and was currently serving in the Firearms Unit.

Paula wanted Joe transferred to safer assignments, such as the 16th Precinct in Brooklyn or the 116th Precinct in Queens. Paula also revealed that Joe’s father was Frank’s late son, Joe Reagan. She then told Frank that she was pregnant when she dropped out of the academy (the reason Frank couldn’t talk her out of it back then) and was no longer interested in being in a relationship with Joe Reagan, at the time, so she did not tell him about the pregnancy. Years later, Paula came out with this because her son always wondered about his father. This reminded Frank of the results of Sean’s DNA testing, and he realized who the mystery cousin was.
