Food Network star Valerie Bertinelli just turned to social media to share her shocking and sad news. And the actress, who rose to fame on the situation comedy “One Day At A Time,” revealed that the Food Network cut Valerie from the Kids Baking Championship show.
But Valerie also revealed the pain of losing the show that she says “saved my life.” Get all the details below.
Food Network Cuts Valerie Bertinelli From Kids Baking Championship Show
For Valerie Bertinelli, the news of the Food Network cutting her from the Kids Baking Championship show “really hurts,” she shared on social media. And Valerie, who co-hosted the Kids Baking Championship for the Food Network with Duff Goldman since season one, also described what the Kids Baking Championship co-hosting gig meant to her personally and professionally via People.
But Bertinelli, known as both a Food Network host and an actress in shows such as “One Day At A Time,” poured out her emotions in a video that she shared in an Instagram Story. And the Kids Baking Championship host, 63, revealed that she just discovered that the Food Network will not ask her back to host on Kids Baking Championship in the future.
As a result, confessed the heartbroken Valerie, “it really hurt my feelings.” And after repeating that statement numerous times in the video, Bertinelli added, “It really sucks.” However, the Food Network star, who hosted the show with Duff Goldman since it premiered in 2015, did reveal the reason. And she named budget cuts as the reason that the Food Network ended her gig.
Valerie Bertinelli Recalls ‘Year Of Hell’
However, the “One Day At A Time” star shared that she already filmed the episodes for season 12 of the show, currently airing, in the summer of 2022. And Valerie called that time period, which marked her divorce from Tom Vitale, “my apex year of hell.”
But the “Hot in Cleveland ” actress recalled trying to fake it until she made it. And Valerie attempted to act as if her life felt just fine. But behind the scenes, Bertinelli’s life fell apart. And the actress shared, “Without sounding like a drama queen, the show saved my life.”
But Bertinelli also clarified that seeking to spread kindness amid her productive work helped her survive. And she compared her Food Network hosting gig to a “floatation device.” “So it really hurts that I won’t be able to go back and see everybody and say, ‘Hey, I made it through,'” she added.
And Valerie shared her sorrow at not getting the chance to tell those with whom she worked what the show meant to her. But while Bertinelli will miss her co-host Goldman, the crew, and the young contestants, she sent a message to future contestants of Kids Baking Championship.
And Valerie told them, “You are there for a reason. You’re some of the best bakers in America right now. And if you don’t make it to the next round, please always remember this: It’s not because you’re not a good baker, you just had a bad day. So, always, always believe in yourself. Please do that for me. And keep baking. I’ll miss you guys.”
