Friends Cast Returns After 17 Years – All The Details!

FriendsWho could have predicted that after the grim and the gloom that have plagued the previous year and much of this year, a Friends reunion is what we actually need to take us from 2021 to the Friends’ era when the world was a better place and social media trends hadn’t even been invented yet.

All six characters from one of the most popular TV shows in history are back for an unscripted reunion that will air on HBO Max. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer remember their moments on Friends: The Reunion, also known as “The One Where They Get Back Together.”

Friends Reunion Takes The Stars And Fans On A Trip Down Memory Lane

A lot has happened in the life of all six of Friends’ main characters, both onscreen and off-screen since the iconic movie wrapped filming in 2004.

If it’s going to be a weird and emotional moment for fans when we see the meticulously recreated sets of a world we’ve left behind for seventeen years, the stars have felt it all walking back onto Stage 24 at Warner Bros. Studios.

We see Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad, Monica and Rachel’s apartment, and even Central Perk, where we’ve often seen the stars come together on the thrift-store-find orange couch reserved especially for them.

“I was flooded with 10 years of irreplaceable memories,” Cox, 56, tells PEOPLE in their cover story.

“It’s funny when we do get together, it’s like no time has passed,” says LeBlanc, 53. “We pick up right where we left off.”

As for meeting together for the first time on the soundstage, Aniston describes the feeling as “Oh God, how are we going to get through this alive, without just crying our faces off?”

“It was kind of melancholy, I guess. Right?” asks LeBlanc. Kudrow, 57, agrees: “Yeah, emotional.”

Friends’ Stars Share What Their Characters Life Would Be Like In The Present Day

Though the special reunion episode is unscripted, the stars already have an idea of what their characters would be doing in the present day.

“I would like to have maybe started a clothing line of my own, and it’s sort of a small franchise,” says Aniston of Rachel. “Like a Nili Lotan. And I live in New York City on the Upper East Side.”

“I always just feel like Monica would be doing something competitively with other mothers and trying to outdo them,” Cox says. “Whether it’s the bake sale at school or something. I mean, she’d be so annoying. She’d be at the head of the PTA or something.”

Kudrow believes that Phoebe will be “living in Connecticut with Mike and their kids, and she’s in charge of the arts program for the school,” the actress says. “And just … the advocate for her kids because they’re different like she was.”

Perry, 51, thinks his character Chandler will be both a wonderful father and a wonderful comedy writer.
LeBlanc probably knows that Joey would opt for “a chain of sandwich shops.” Perry cheekily adds: “And eaten all the sandwiches.”

Schwimmer believes that aside from playing with his bones as a paleontologist, his character Ross “would’ve invested in Joey’s sandwich shop and lost a lot of his savings for his kids.”

Friends Reunion Special Trailer And Details

As the release date nears, May 27 (mark your calendar), new pictures of the characters have been released in promotion of the upcoming episode.

The episode is executive produced by the show’s co-creator, Kevin S. Bright, Marta Kauffman, David Crane, all six of the show’s main cast, and Ben Winston (who is also directing the special).

While it’s a happy thing to have so many celebrities guest-starring in the special, namely David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Kit Harrington, Lady Gaga, Tom Selleck, Taylor Swift, and so many others, it’s worrying if the main characters will get enough screen time as it is only an hour long.

Friends: The Reunion trailer promises to make you smile weirdly with recollection, laugh with the stars, see them back on with their famous quiz that saw Rachel and Monica lose their apartment, and finally, cry with them. It promises to be an episode to remember.
