Game Of Thrones: George R.R. Martin Always Wanted 10 Seasons Of The Show

HBO Finale Of The Show

Game Of Thrones ran for eight seasons and the finale seemed rushed. Fans were hugely disappointed with the mega-series that were extremely popular. The unsatisfactory ending brought a stream of criticism. In fact, fans thought that the showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss almost seemed to lose interest in the character development. Well, now, a new book by  James Andrew Miller, Tinderbox, reveals what fans suspected all along. Writer, George R.R. Martin, always wanted 10 seasons for the show.

Game Of Thrones – HBO Fans Complained About The Ending

An outcry arose when the much-awaited season finale arrived. It all focused on Daenerys who finally become queen. Of course, she was mad as a hatter by then. So, Jon Snow did the almost unthinkable and killed her. Eventually, unlikely contender, Bran Stark ended taking the crown and ruled as the King of Westeros. The End!

Game of Thrones fans seemed a bit mollified by the news that a prequel comes along in May 2022. House of the Dragon takes fans back to before the first eight seasons of the show. Fans heard that it explores the reign and fall of the house of Targaryen. However, it’s such a long wait, and fans were so saddened by Season 8’s ending, it’s not clear how many people will watch it. Who can better what they already saw anyway? Time will tell. In the meantime, fans who always felt that the showrunners rushed the ending might be vindicated by a report from Insider.

Game Of Thrones

The outlet reported on Monday, November 29, that the new book, Tinderbox brought the news that George R.R. Martin always wanted 10 seasons. In fact, he flew out especially to beg the producers for it. However, they ignored him. Instead, they brushed his pleas under the carpet and became famous for dropping the ball. Apparently, “Miller, who conducted 757 interviews for the book, spoke with Martin, Martin’s agent, Paul Haas, and Richard Plepler, HBO’s former CEO.” It was Haas who told the journalist about Tolkein pleading for the full amount of seasons. He felt the material was there, and it would better conclude the story.

Millions of unhappy Game Of Thrones viewers agree with the sentiment that the author expressed. Then again, the show deviated so far from the original storyline that George R.R. Martin planned, that the ending certainly didn’t spoil the books anyway.
