Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Getting All NEW Cast?

Grey’s Anatomy is one of the longest running primetime dramas on television.  Over the course of the past 20 seasons of Grey’s, fans have seen a lot of cast members come and go. Rumor has it, when the drama returns with new episodes, it may not have any of the main cast members and fan faves.  What is going on at ABC?  Keep reading for all the details, and all new Grey’s Anatomy spoilers.

Grey’s Anatomy has withstood the test of time.  In fact, we were all a little shocked when the hospital drama was renewed for a 21st season.  Not that it didn’t deserve a renewal, but all good shows must come to an end at some point.  And, a lot of the main cast members have jumped ship over the years.

But, Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 might be a LOT different from previous seasons.  According to Deadline, there’s something fishy going on at ABC and NONE of the key players have renewed their contracts to return.

Per a new report, “According to Deadline, Season 21 will feature 18 episodes. But until contracts are signed with valuable cast members such as Chandra Wilson (Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard) — both of whom have been around since Day 1 — not to mention many of the fan faves who’ve come on board in the years since.”

Is Ellen Pompeo Done At Grey’s Anatomy

Of course, Grey’s Matriarch Ellen Pompeo is already appearing in a reduced number of episodes for Season 20. 

Word on the internet is Meredith may not even appear in Season 21 and hasn’t renewed her contract with the medical drama named after her character.

At this stage in the game, Grey’s Anatomy is basically on life support at ABC. 

It might be time for the network to pull the plug on the drama and begin exploring spinoffs like all of the other primetime dramas have done (cough, Law & Order and NCIS).  Will you watch Grey’s Anatomy without the main cast?
