Pompeo with the Grey’s cast returned earlier this month for the show’s 18th season but it was reported that the actress’ current contract will end with the season. The viewers remain to ask if this will be the last for the medical drama and if the main character will be leaving Grey’s Sloan Memorial Hospital soon especially that Pompeo has already talked about her plans once the show wraps up.

In an interview with Dax Holt on Audacy’s podcast “Check In”, Pompeo clarified she won’t be doing movies after Grey’s despite playing Dr. Meredith for 18 long seasons in the medical drama and remaining to be the only one of the original cast.

“I don’t really have a movie career, and – I think I’ve said this before – our business is quite separate,” Pompeo said.

However, Pompeo pointed out the dramatic advancements that streaming made in the film industry and those days that a TV actor is “sort of pigeonholed as a TV actor” has already ended.

“Because before being on a network show for so long, you’d literally be doomed. That definitely isn’t the case anymore,” she added. With that said, Pompeo’s fans won’t need to wait that long to see her again on-screen as the star revealed she’d still be acting but not for big screens: “Television most likely.”

Ellen Pompeo To Pursue Other Entrepreneurial Endeavors

Pompeo admitted she has many entrepreneurial endeavors to pursue with one already rolling out. It has already been a month since the star launched her Cadence13 podcast titled “Tell Me with Ellen Pompeo” where she got to sit and chat with her Grey’s co-star Patrick Dempsey, and other guests, Cindy Crawford, and Yara Shahidi.

Her own production company, Calamity Jane also has already developed with “Sex and the City” Kristin Davis starring on “Deeds”, a black comedy for HBO Max. The actress also teased her fans about a developing project she’s doing right now although she kept the details under rugs.

“We’ll see if that’s meant to see the light of day,” she added.

Sharing with fans’ sentiments, Pompeo admitted she was glad to see Kate Walsh back to the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as Dr. Addison Montgomery.

On Thursday’s (October 14) episode, Dr. Addison appeared on the screen for her multi-episode arc beginning with a challenging surgery that saw her asking help from her previous rival, Dr. Grey.

“The original cast, we have such an intense bond because we went through something so intense together,” Pompeo told Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner.

“To see all that hard work culminate in something that’s still so well-received and still so celebrated is a really special bond that we all have together.”
