The long-running ABC show is recently renewed for season 19 although leading lady Ellen Pompeo, who’s been playing as Dr. Meredith Grey for 17 years, confessed to convincing everyone it’s time for the show to end last December.

The actor hasn’t totally closed his doors to the medical series after leaving at the end of season 17 in 2021 and with the show possibly up for its final round, Williams is willing to return.

While promoting his upcoming Broadway debut “Take Me Out” Williams told Entertainment Tonight that he would “consider” a comeback to Grey’s.

“He still exists in the world of the show. So, yeah, it’s totally a possibility,” he teased.

The actor also talked about the famous on-screen couple “Japril” and said “they’re definitely around each other and they’re definitely seeing each other” as he would imagine.

The show gave viewers a “satisfying” farewell for Williams by tying up loose ends for “Japril” when actress Sarah Drew returned as surgeon April Kepner ahead of Dr. Avery’s exit.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spoilers – Star Jesse Williams On Dr. Jackson’s Exit: “It Was Necessary.”

Williams is convinced his character’s exit was necessary for Jackson’s journey of self-discovery. Speaking to Deadline, the star emphasized “something has to change” or else his character will go numb and dissolve.

With the character in transition, Williams believed it was the natural way to honor the truth of his role, not what he, the show, or the fans “want” and that he’s happy how Dr. Avery ended on the show.

“He’s going to feel alive in a way that he hasn’t before, which is very exciting,” the actor added.

In reality, the actor is also living another major role as he takes the stage as a professional baseball player named Darren Lemming in the revival of the play “Take Me Out” first written by Richard Greenberg 20 years ago.

According to ET, the play tackles themes of racism and homophobia in a major sports world in which William’s character, Darren decides to come out as gay at the peak of his career. The actor will be joined by “Suits” star Patrick J. Adams as his teammate, Kippy Sunderstrom who warns him against his decision of coming out of the closet.  Keep checking back here for more Grey’s Anatomy spoilers, news, and updates.
