Grey’s Anatomy Star Ellen Pompeo Believes The ABC Show Can Go On Without Her

“Grey’s Anatomy” spoilers, news, and updates tease that Ellen Pompeo wanted to leave the show and believed that it would still do great despite her absence.
Ellen Pompeo plays the role of Dr. Meredith Grey for over 15 years, but she has been recently vocal about her possible exit after Season 18. During her interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 52-year-old actress revealed that she and creator Shonda Rhimes have been talking about her leaving the soap and she also mentioned that the show can successfully continue even without her.
Pompeo also acknowledged the fanbase, especially the young audience for keeping the medical drama on top of their list. “We’re going to try to keep it going for the young people, not necessarily with me, but keep it going beyond me,” she said.

Recently, the “Station 19” star spoke with Extra’s Katie Krause and hinted about her character, Meredith Grey’s, romance with her onscreen partner, Dr. Nick Marsh, played by Scott Speedman. “I think that the idea of moving on or not moving on after your spouse has died… it’s a great story to explore and it’s helpful to people,” Pompeo said when asked about their possible onscreen marriage.
She also talked about Scott Speedman, saying that he’s fun to work with, and hailed him as “an amazing partner,” who has the same goal as her, which was to help people with their stories. Talking about Taylor Swift’s possible cameo on the show, Pompeo expressed her excitement, “I would love it.”

Earlier this year, ABC declared the upcoming Season 19 of the medical drama series, and the show’s creator expressed her excitement as she will explore modern medicines and develop the storyline of its characters.

“I couldn’t be more excited that we get to keep telling the stories of Meredith, Bailey, Richard, and all of the other doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial for another season,” creator Shonda Rhimes told People. She also acknowledged the hard work of the casts and crews, the executive producer and showrunner, Krista Vernoff, as well as the fans who keep showing love and support to the series for many years now.
