Harrison Ford Says He Just Wants ‘To Work’ As He Stars In Yellowstone Spin-off, 1923

Have you seen Harrison Ford‘s latest character in “1923?” The 80-year-old played 77-year-old Jacob Dutton in the movie and playfully thinks the age difference is a “stretch”.

But if there’s one thing you should know about Ford, it’s that after having more than five decades of a successful film career, he’s not thinking about slowing down.

Harrison Ford Says He Loves “the Challenge” Of Making Film And TV

While speaking to The New York Times, Ford shared that the reason he’s still in love with acting is because he loves “the challenge” of having to become a new character. The Academy Award winner starred in the “Yellowstone” prequel spin-off “1923”, premiering Sunday on Paramount Network.

“I’m 80, and I’m playing 77,” Ford joked. “It’s a bit of a stretch.”

“1923” focuses on Helen Mirren and Ford’s characters as they lead a new generation of the Dutton family to navigate the hardships of their era, including Western Expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.

Even though Ford’s diary is pretty packed at this time, with roles in “Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny”, MCU’s “Captain America: A New World Order”, and “Thunderbolts”, the Apple TV+ series “Shrinking”, “1923” marks Ford’s first starring television role.

“I’ve been working pretty much back-to-back, which is not what I normally do,” he said. “I don’t know how it happened. But it happened.”

But the best part is that the “Star Wars” alum has no intention of retiring any time soon. “I love it. I love the challenge and the process of making a movie. I feel at home. It’s what I’ve spent my life doing,” he said.

“I’m here to sell a movie,” Ford added. “I don’t want to reinvent myself. I just want to work.”

Harrison Ford On His “Wonderful” Costar Helen Mirren

Side by side, Ford and Mirren’s characters shaped the future of the Dutton family and helped lead the family business to new highs.
Offscreen, it’s been a pleasure for Ford to get to work with Mirren, who he formerly worked with in 1986’s “The Mosquito Coast”, on “1923”.

“I admire her work and her person [now], and I have all the same degree of admiration for her as I did then,” Ford said at the Los Angeles premiere of 1923 earlier this month. “She’s wonderful, she’s just a lovely person, and so it’s been both a professional pleasure and a personal pleasure working with her again.”
