‘How I Met Your Father’ Welcomes An OG Cast, Fans Elated

How I Met Your Father’s mid-season finale is surely going to be legen-wait-for-it-dary as an OG cast member will soon grace the screen. The Hulu series is a spinoff of the original show How I Met Your Mother that ran for a wholesome nine seasons after its debut in 2005. And now, Neil Patrick Harris, who was the key cast member of the OG series, is all set to reprise his role as Barney Stinson. Popular for his flamboyant and playboy character, Barney Stinson was a fan-favorite among viewers. For his exceptional acting skills, the actor has bagged four Primetime Emmy nominations for the supporting actor category. He consecutively bagged these nominations for four years, starting from 2007 to 2010.

Now, Harris will be a part of the Hulu series for its mid-season finale, which will last for two episodes. Among the two episodes, the first, titled I’m His Swish, will air on March 28, 2023. After these two episodes, the series will go on a short hiatus before resuming on May 23. In the series, Sophie will meet Barney Stinson after an accident as their cars collide.

The spinoff series follows Sophie, played by Hillary Duff, who details the story of meeting the love of her life, in a way the OG story did. The series also features a future Sophie, played by Kim Cattrall, who is narrating this story in 2045.

Apart from Duff, the series also stars Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Christopher Lowell, Tien Tran, and Tom Ainsley. Also, the recurring stars include Josh Peck, Cattrall, Ashley Reyes, and Daniel Augustin. The series is produced by 20th Television, with Elizabeth Berg and Isaac Aptaker serving as the creators.

However, Neil Patrick Harris isn’t the only OG cast member that has returned for the spinoff series. Cobie Smulders, aka Robin Scherbatsky, also appeared on the show for a surprise cameo, guiding the protagonist in the MacLaren’s Bar through her troubles. This paved the pathway for more of the original cast members to return to the show. Now that two iconic members have already appeared on How I Met Your Father, there is a chance Marshall, Lilly, and our own Ted might also appear on the show sometime in the future.
