Many cast members and fans are eager to see the beloved procedural continue, but CBS has firmly decided to wrap up the show after 14 successful seasons. However, this doesn’t mean the network isn’t exploring ways to extend the franchise.

In June, during a stockholders meeting, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins hinted at “new franchise extensions” for Blue Bloods, marking the first mention of any new series set in that universe.

The details surrounding the series were scarce, yet the mere possibility of a spinoff sparked a wave of excitement among fans.

Blue Bloods Spoilers – Not Anything In Development Soon

CBS Studios President David Stapf put the brakes on that idea just a month later. He explained to Deadline, “We don’t have any immediate plans for development, but it’s a cherished brand and show.

We want to ensure we get it right, so we’re taking our time to determine what the next chapter of Blue Bloods will look like. We have an entire season ahead to honor the show and its legacy, so there’s still plenty of time for us to work this out.”

Blue Bloods Spoilers – New Hope Came In August

In August, a source revealed to Closer that discussions have taken place regarding the possibility of creating made-for-TV movies based on Blue Bloods or even reviving the series.

This news surfaced shortly after Donnie Wahlberg hinted to fans during a New Kids on the Block concert that there might be “something else after” what was thought to be the final season. He later elaborated to TV Insider about the potential for spinoffs.

At that time he stated, “If it’s approached with the same spirit and care that we infused into Blue Bloods each week, I would be excited to watch or participate in it.” The rest of the Blue Bloods cast agreed with his sentiments.

Blue Bloods Spoilers – Tom Selleck’s Two Cents

Tom Selleck, who plays his on-screen father Frank Reagan, has expressed that he is “open to suggestions.” In an interview with Parade, he shared his affection for the character Frank Reagan, stating, “but nobody’s really asked. I don’t see him retiring and going off somewhere.”

With cast members showing interest in a spinoff and the series concluding with the Reagans in a happy place, there’s always a chance for a new series or TV movie.
