Kelly Ripa’s Will Be Keeping Live Fresh With New Co-host Husband Mark Consuelos

In the middle of February last month, “Live With Kelly and Ryan” bid farewell to its co-host Ryan Seacrest and opened the door permanently to Kelly’s husband Mark Consuelos.

There’s no doubt that Kelly and her former co-host Ryan share a bond and that Ryan is good at his job but, Mark has shared the stage with his wife a few times and we can all agree that those few times he co-hosted the show in Ryan’s absence were great—especially the on-air chemistry he shares with Kelly.

Kelly Ripa — How Working Co-hosting Would Affect Kelly And Mark’s Marriage

A day after Ryan’s exit from the show, Kelly’s husband Mark shared on “Live” that he used to take coffee with his wife every day before she leaves for work but working with her now means he gets to do it twice. “I get to share a coffee with you every morning before the show and now I’ll have one with you on the show as well.”

Recently, Kelly jokingly told Access that she plans to surprise Mark but to achieve that, the couple has to separate. “Mark and I are literally going to have to separate so that he doesn’t know what I’ve got in store for him. So there’s surprises.”

Although there were several reasons why having married couples hosting together is unacceptable, in Mark’s case, the ABC executives were all on board with the idea. “The network and Kelly wanted to avoid her and a new co-host not hitting it off.”

Kelly Ripa — Ryan’s Departure From The Show

Ryan initially signed with the ABC daytime show for three years but ended up staying for six years. In Kelly’s parting speech to him, she acknowledged Ryan as a “dear” friend and noted that no one can do Ryan’s job more than him.

“There is nobody else like you. There is nobody who can really do what you do. I know you in real life as well as TV life. I say this about very few people: what you see is what you get. This is not an act, this is a good man. I am so endlessly impressed by you.”

In Ryan’s parting speech to Kelly, he said, “Working alongside Kelly over the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career. She has been an amazing partner, friend, and confidant, and although we will always be a part of each other’s lives, I will miss our mornings together.”
