Law & Order – Star Leaves NBC Drama

Camryn Manheim played the role of NYPD Lieutenant Kate Dixon in the series since 2022. She announced that she’s leaving the hit NBC drama. Law & Order Season 23 is currently airing on the network. Manheim will not return for the 24th season.

The show will air its season finale on Thursday, May 16. It’s expected to be Manheim’s final episode. On Friday, May 10, Law & Order creator Dick Wolf shared a statement with Variety in light of the news.

“I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order,” he wrote. “She is a class act and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.”

Law & Order fans reacted to the news on X, formerly Twitter. Most of them are upset to see Camryn Manheim leave the soap. They will miss her character. One fan wrote, “Man, that’s a bummer.” Another user noted, “That’s so sad.”

Fans noticed that the NBC series can’t keep characters. The cast has experienced a major shakeup in recent seasons. Not all of the actors want to remain on the long-running series. Even some of the veterans have left. Most actors leave because they want to explore other opportunities.

Law & Order – Cast Changes

Law & Order premiered in 1990. It went on to run for over 20 seasons until 2010. In 2021, the network announced the popular series would return. Season 21 premiered on February 24, 2022.

Camryn Manheim joined the show as Dixon. She appeared in a guest role as different characters in the past. Sam Waterston also announced his departure from the series. He played the role of Manhattan District Attorney Jack McCoy.

Scandal alum Tony Goldwyn joined the cast as the new DA, Nicholas Baxter. Manheim revealed that she was “very tear-eyed” over Waterston’s departure. She called him the “real McCoy.”

“He is the honor, the integrity, the grace of our show, and he’s passing the baton on to Tony Goldwyn as you know, but his legacy lives on,” Camryn Manheim said on Live with Kelly and Mark.
