NCIS New Orleans Spoilers: CBS Show On Chopping Block, Star Scott Bakula Open To Reprise Quantum Leap Role

NCIS New Orleans Spoilers: CBS Show On Chopping Block, Star Scott Bakula Open To Reprise Quantum Leap RoleNCIS New Orleans spoilers tease that although, sadly, this will be the final season of NCIS New Orleans, star Scott Bakula, who plays Dwayne Pride is ready to take another quantum leap as Dr. Sam Beckett should the opportunity arise!

NCIS New Orleans Spoilers – Sadly, The Show Will End This May – Where Will Scott Bakula Go?

Disappointed fans found out a few days ago that NCIS New Orleans will be ending in May. While there has been talk of another spinoff, NCIS Hawaii, nothing has been said as to whether the NOLA crew would get a transfer there! Scott Bakula’s fans have been wondering where he will go. Lots of fans would like to see him once again go “where no one has gone before” as Captain Jonathan Archer of the Starship Enterprise, but there haven’t been even any hints of rumors of a reboot of Star Trek: Enterprise.

However, before he appeared in that Trekkie favorite, he played Dr. Sam Beckett in another science fiction genre program – Quantum Leap. Quantum Leap starred Bakula, of course, and Dean Stockwell as Admiral Al Calavicci, more simply known as “Al.” Al only appeared to Sam as a hologram, never as an actual person. Instead of going from time warp to time warp in a spaceship, Dr. Sam Beckett traveled from time period to time period into other people’s lives and personas, with a mission to right what had gone wrong. Beckett was a physicist who time traveled, which was called a “leap” every time he “leaped” into someone else’s body in a different time. “Quantum Leap” appeared on NBC from 1989 to 1993 and was created by Donald P. Bellisario, the same man who created the NCIS shows.

NCIS New Orleans Spoilers – A Quantum Leap Reboot Has Been Rumored

There not only have been rumors, there have been tentative plans to create a Quantum Leap reboot of some sort, whether it be a revival or even a movie for many years. When asked about a possibility of joining such a reboot should one be created, Bakula said that Quantum Leap was very special to him, and wished luck to anyone who could pull it off. He continued, saying that the concept of the show, which was basically walking in another man or woman’s shoes would be very relevant in this day and age, and very important.

He said people have become so divided in our world that having the ability to cross political lines and deal solely with the individual one is sharing a moment with as simply another human being is very relevant now. He remarked how the show had a quaintness, because of the period feel when Sam traveled anywhere within his own lifetime. It was old fashioned, but in a good way, and Scott would hope that they would understand the truth and sentiments of it right, and not just try and make it another slick advertising tool.

Scott Bakula makes an excellent point when he says what he thinks would be most important in a new version of Quantum Leap. Sam literally walked in the shoes and in the lives of others, after his experiment in time travel went wrong and he was stuck leaping randomly into the bodies of strangers who were contemporaries of his while trying to fix historical wrongs. When the show ended, Sam would never be able to get home again.

Scott also talked about what he might want to see in a revival of the show, if he would want to see the original show’s storyline continued with maybe some additions. One concept that has been discussed is that perhaps Sam could have fathered children on the two leaps he did take home – although he always leaped away from home again. An interesting concept would be either Sam’s grown son or daughter following in his footsteps and the two intersecting in time, and that is one of the possibilities that has been discussed. Nothing definite has been announced regarding a reboot, but Scott Bakula would leap at the chance to join the show if one materializes!
