NCIS Hawaii fans were not happy about CBS cancelling the primetime drama, however there is a silver lining. A new NCIS series will be airing in the cancelled show’s timeslot on Monday nights at 10:00 PM. Mark Harmon’s special prequel, appropriately titled NCIS Origins, will be premiering this fall. Mark Harmon – Teases NCIS Origins
Origins is the brain child of NCIS’ Mark Harmon and his son Sean Harmon. The spinoff will serve as a prequel to the original NCIS and will follow Jethro Gibbs at the start of his career in the 1990’s.
Austin Stowell has been cast to play the younger Gibbs in the prequel, however Mark Harmon will narrate the series.
Mark and Sean Harmon recently sat down with ET Online to discuss the new series, which will finally see the light of day in Fall 2024.
Mark Harmon’s son explained, “This is an idea we worked on for a long time and just really really to finally be at this point in the process. I like to think he made me the man I am today.”
Did CBS Make A Mistake With NCIS Hawaii
CBS clearly has high hopes for the new NCIS series, and has put them in a coveted timeslot. But, was it really fair to the NCIS Hawaii fans and cast and crew?
A lot of upset fans voiced their frustrations with the network for cancelling a promising series just to make room for Mark Harmon’s baby.
NCIS Hawaii fans even started an online petition begging the network to reverse the cancellation, but so far have been unsuccessful.
A NCIS spinoff starring a young Gibbs is going to be a surefire hit for CBS, regardless of what timeslot it is given. Do you think it was wrong to pull the plug on its sister show NCIS Hawaii just to open up the timeslot?
