NCIS’ Sean Murray (Agent Timothy McGee) Shows Off His New House

NCIS spoilers tease that Sean Murray, also known as NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee is a man of many talents. He has spent ten years designing his home and it appears that he is certainly no probie when it comes to that!

Murray has been renovating and remodeling his Southern California home for ten years now and it is finally complete. He has been with NCIS as McGee for eighteen seasons, so he has been working on his house more than half that time! He says he totally fell in love with the house and the process to make it what he wanted it to be! Murray, a “Navy brat” spent most of his life moving frequently and never staying in one place very long so he was anxious to have a home he could stay in for a while.

He recalled joking with his mother about whether their next home would be a light shade of military green or a dark shade, and not having much flexibility when it came to decorating or personalizing their temporary homes, provided by the Navy. He was allowed to decorate the walls of his bedroom, however and the first time he delved into décor was when he put up a 3D velvet Guns N’ Roses poster. Murray says it was based on the cover of an album, “Appetite for Destruction” and it stuck out about half an inch from the wall! The 43 year old actor laughed and said it was his favorite thing ever! He shared that his father was stationed in Singapore, Australia and London before he was even 8 years old!

When NCIS’ Sean and his wife Carrie, who runs the Business Relationship Alliance, a network for female entrepreneurs first bought their home ten years ago, it needed a lot of work! He said if people saw the before and after, they wouldn’t even think it could be the same house! He said it looked very early nineties or perhaps earlier, right down to the glass block entry wall. But since he moved around so much as a kid, he wanted a space and a place they could call their own. When they started on the renovation, they were expecting River, now ten, and their oldest child, a daughter named Caitlyn was only three.

The house is a sprawling one story property and it needed a lot of updating. They also found the 4200 square foot six bedroom home needed some repairs, including a drainage problem. They also redesigned the landscaping and had a pool built and put in a Jacuzzi.

NCIS cast’s Sean said at the peak of their renovation they had felt like they were living in a tent for a year! He started leaning into the creative process and dreamed up a custom wood slat wall to replace the glass blocks, and became obsessive over finishes. They are finally to the point where they only have to use a spare bathroom while the main one is being remodeled; and not a drop of olive drab paint!
