NCIS spoilers tease that some fans think it’s time for Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to leave NCIS and he needs to retire, or perhaps get some serious psychological help! At least that’s what some fans think, and they haven’t been mincing words!
NCIS Spoilers – NCIS Wouldn’t Be The Same Without Leroy Jethro Gibbs
Undoubtedly, the absence of Gibbs would take some getting used to, not only for fans who like Gibbs but for the NCIS team itself. But recently, some have noted that he is not making the best decisions, and has potentially put not only himself, but his team in danger. He’s also been increasingly agitated and apathetic, and acts like he’s got a big chip on his shoulder.
NCIS recaps and spoilers show Gibbs has recently appeared to have gotten to a point where he doesn’t seem to care what happens, or how his actions impact others.
Viewers will recall in the most recent NCIS episode where he almost killed a man accused of murdering some dogs without even asking questions first. Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) was forced to suspend Gibbs from NCIS indefinitely. Vance couldn’t believe how careless Gibbs has been lately – in this particular situation, he had waited for him to explain why he went off like that, or at least apologize.
When Vance asked Gibbs if he was sorry, Gibbs said he was sorry he didn’t kill the guy – and that was what forced Vance’s hand. It definitely sounds like Leroy Jethro Gibbs needs a break from law enforcement! Something has been building up inside him for a long time and it has been noticeable. Jack Sloane (Maria Bello) tried to get him to talk to her about it several times, but he kept denying anything was wrong!
NCIS Spoilers – Leroy Jethro Gibbs May Be Suffering From Depression
Gibbs may well be suffering from depression. It is a well-known fact that a series of traumatic incidents can bring on clinical depression in a person pre-disposed to it. The signs that Gibbs is not himself have been evident for quite a while. For instance, last season there was an incident where Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) was feeling overwhelmed and talking to Special Agents Nick Torres, (Wilmer Valderrama) Ellie Bishop, (Emily Wickersham) and Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) about it.
NCIS’ Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) had just retired and Jimmy was on his own in the morgue. He had been so busy the night before he hadn’t even gone home and only had fourteen minutes of sleep, and that was a nap on one of the autopsy tables!

Normally, Gibbs probably would have told him to take a day off, but instead he was impatient because the team wasn’t moving fast enough and banged a baseball bat on his desk, right next to Jimmy, and yelled at his team to get their gear! Gibbs has gone through a lot of trauma in the last year or so – he became attached to a little neighbor boy about the same time he discovered that Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) was still alive.
Unfortunately, NCIS spoilers reveal Gibbs found out that the woman who was trying to kill Ziva was the little boy’s mother, and had to kill her to protect Ziva! The little boy’s relatives came and got him and they left town. Then, there were the deaths of Jimmy’s wife and Tobias Fornell’s (Joe Spano) daughter. This is all taking a toll on Gibbs, plus Jack’s departure was hard on him. Maybe he just needs to take some time off himself and give himself time to heal – he’s had years of traumatic events that have built up in him!
