It’s been years since fans last saw Weatherly play the fan-favorite, Tony DiNozzo. The last time he appeared on the show was in season 13. He’s one of the CBS’ series most popular characters. Viewers can still recall his charming and humorous character, especially when he got into a subtle romance with Ziva (Cote de Pablo).

The actor played the role of Dr. Jason Bull for six seasons. It’s been a privilege for him to be part of incredible storylines. However, Weatherly shared that it’s time for him to take on new creative challenges and bring the story of Dr. Jason Bull to a close. He expressed this gratitude for being able to work with a talented cast and crew. He also thanked his fans for all their support.

Fans started to speculate that Weatherly’s departure from Bull and the show coming to an end could mean that he’s returning to NCIS. Not only that, NCIS will have another spinoff which will be based in Sydney. Weatherly’s cryptic social media posts also fueled rumors of his possible return.

NCIS Spoilers – Michael Weatherly’s Cryptic Posts Fuel Fans’ Hope For His Return To NCIS

In the past few months, the actor has been mentioning the show frequently. He posted a photo of him wearing the NCIS cap or talking about their memories on set.

Fans were quick to react to his posts. A Twitter user with the handle @rgrjkim replied,” Miss you as Tony. Please tell me that you are coming back to NCIS soon? Perhaps the one in Sydney coming soon?”

“Stop with the teasing Michael,” @MariaJoseGlobal commented.

Sarah Monahan even asked the actor if he’s headed to #NCISSydney. Meanwhile, John Charcho wished the actor well and hoped that he’ll come back to NCIS.

Unfortunately, NCIS or Weatherly didn’t comment on a possible return. Fans will just have to wait and see if he’ll reprise his role or not.
