NCIS: Hawai’i Spoilers: Will Mark Harmon Appear On The Franchise Latest Spin-off?

NCIS: Hawai’i spoilers and updates tease the NCIS spinoff is coming to CBS this fall and many are wondering if Mark Harmon will bring his character Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the franchise’s latest spin-off.

The spin-off stars Vanessa Lachey, who’ll take on the first female lead role in the franchise as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant. No one knows if Mark Harmon will make an appearance on the new show since details are yet to be revealed about the spin-off’s upcoming first season, which is scheduled for a September 1 launch.

The show also stars Yasmine Al-Bustami as junior team member Lucy, Jason Antoon as Cyber Intelligence Specialist named Ernie, and Noah Mills as Jesse, a former homicide detective. Tori Anderson takes on the role of Kate Whistler while Kian Talan joins the cast as Alex Tennant.

Mark Harmon has been with “NCIS” for 18 seasons and has appeared on more than 400 episodes. According to The Hollywood Reporter,” the actor was ready to leave the show before it was renewed for season 19.

But the actor and the show’s executive producer were informed that if Harmon decides to move one from his role, CBS would most likely end the show for good. Given that the drama series was renewed for another season, Harmon probably entered negotiations with the network. The actor will return the next season but it remains unclear whether he’ll be back on the show full-time.

In an interview with Deadline, CBS Entertainment boss Kelly Kahl said they haven’t worked out the number of episodes Harmon will be part of. It’s possible for the actor to become a part-time cast member like David McCallum, who played the role of Dr. Ducky Mallard.

“We take it year by year with Mark, we’d love to have him as long as he’d like to be here,” Kahl said.

“Even in this past season, he might have been light in a couple of [episodes], so we’re happy to work around his schedule,” Kahl continued.

Additionally, fans will no longer catch the show on its usual Tuesday night time slot, which it had since the show premiered back in 2003. “NCIS” will air on Monday nights and followed by its new spin-off, “NCIS: Hawai’i.” Meanwhile, “NCIS: Los Angeles” retains its Sunday night timeslot while “NCIS: New Orleans” will no longer air since the show was cancelled earlier this year after seven seasons.
