NCIS: Los Angeles spoilers tease that Admiral Hollis Kilbride will be taking charge more often as Gerald McRaney becomes a series regular in the next season of NCIS: Los Angeles!
NCIS: Los Angeles Spoilers – Gerald McRaney Has Recurred Since 2014
Regular viewers of NCIS: Los Angeles will recall that McRaney has recurred as Kilbride since 2014. Admiral Hollis Kilbride overseas, counsels, and advises the Los Angeles division of NCIS Special Projects during their undercover operations, and in truth is Henrietta “Hetty” Lange’s (Linda Hunt) superior. He first appeared in the episode “The 3rd Choir” in season six, where an enemy from the past reappeared with a mission to kill Hetty. Hetty and Kibride go way back, even to Vietnam, as she and the late assistant director Owen Grainger (Miguel Ferrer) did.
NCIS: Los Angeles executive producer R. Scott Gemmill is quoted as saying that when an actor the caliber of Gerald McRaney is available to a series, the showrunners want to do everything that they can to ensure he appears as often as possible, and one way to do that is to promote them from recurring to being a regular, meaning McRaney has a better contract as well. McGemmill also said that the character of Admiral Hollis Kilbride has been an esteemed part of the NCIS universe for seven years, and showrunners look forward to viewers being able to see him in many more episodes as a regular player.
With the departure of former NCIS Tech Operator Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) and NCIS Intelligence Analyst and temporary replacement for Hetty, Nell Jones (Reneé Felice Smith), Kilbride, and Hetty, who has returned, will be in the office and running the show. Chris O’Donnell as NCIS Special Agent Grisha Callen, LL Cool J as NCIS Special Agent Sam Hanna, Daniela Ruah as NCIS Special Agent Kensi Deeks, Eric Christian Olsen as NCIS Special Agent Marty Deeks, Medalion Rahimi as NCIS Special Agent Fatima Namazi, and Caleb Castille as NCIS Special Agent Devin Rountree also remain on the series.
NCIS: Los Angeles Spoilers – Gerald McRaney Should Be Familiar To Longtime Television Viewers
Gerald McRaney should be familiar to longtime television viewers. In addition to the role of Admiral Kilbride on NCIS: Los Angeles, he played villain George Hearst on the television series “Deadwood”, and also as family patriarch Eugene Monreaux on the television series “Filthy Rich”. Going even farther back, he played the most lovable Major John D. MacGillis in “Major Dad” and a recurring role on “Designing Women” as Suzanne Sugarbaker’s (Delta Burke) first husband, Dash Goff.
McRaney was a familiar face in many series from the seventies, eighties, and nineties in iconic shows such as “The Rockford Files”, “Promised Land” and Tim Ryder, a heroin-addicted Vietnam War veteran in one episode of the original “Hawaii Five-O”.
But most longtime television viewers may remember him best from the series “Simon and Simon” where he played Rick Simon, the older of two brothers who ran a private investigations company, his younger brother having been played by Jameson Parker, and named Andrew Jackson Simon – AJ for short. McRaney is a long-lasting actor, being popular for years over his long career!
